I've never figured the stars out. At one point I thought it had something to do with postcount, but that's not it because I have twice as many stars as Roger does and there's no way I am anywhere near his postcount. And it's got nothing to do with being a mod, and we don't have rep.

I think they might be arbitrary.

To be honest, I have no idea how they exactly work either.

I'm pretty sure it's something to do with "usergroup", which is partially automatic (such as postcount or possibly age of account--when your usertitle changes) and manually set (being a mod, admin, or just "special").

But that ECH keeps changing them around just to fuck with us.

Also, for some reason just about every admin got their own usergroup so that's why Roger's stars are different than Faust's1. And their permissions are configured independently. Which gives rise to all sorts of quibbles when some admin discovers there's a certain obscure admin feature they can't do. For instance, I cannot reject membership requests, I can approve them or just leave them pending, but if it's an obvious spambot I cannot remove it from the "waiting for approval" list. Except by hacking into the matrix 8) (database). But that's okay, I believe Cain does most of the spambot rejecting (?).

I believe there is some Discordian theorem about Hodge/Podge and Eristic/Aneristic Illusions that proves why this makes for an excellent and stable way of managing the board.

Alternatively it's because the mod and admin team is awesome.

1Note I say "different", there's no specific significance in having more or less stars than someone and some people have blue stars.

I'm fairly certain that the stars for regular members are based on post count. For you special spags, I bet ECH just fucks with you because he can get away with it.

Pho,
Hopes ECH will start fucking with everyone now....

Some people have BLUE stars? How have I not noticed this?

Could be he's just trying to prove a point about trolling, or something.

Still a bit of weaksauce trolling, however.

He's smarter than that.  You can tell.

So we have to wait until he's done being outrageous.

They hyphens gave it away, didn't they? :(

Because of the subject matter of the Principia Discordia, there is a long and exhausting tradition of people showing up and trying to impress us with their outlandishness, so that particular joke isn't very funny anymore.

I appreciate the HIMEOBS reference though.

Best piece of advice I could give you? Be yourself.
