So if Kim Jong-not so-il is looking for support from China, wouldn't that just make shit with the military scary? Or is China not even going to bother to reinforce Junior if the military get's all uppity?

Because that could potentially get fucking nasty.

I doubt China would act overtly with their military, unless threatened.  The support they are offering is political in nature, strengthening institutions, offering advice on opening the country to foreign trade and investment etc.

Unless the military junta then turned on China, they'd probably just cut their losses and wait in the wings for the new regime to fall, or else try and find moderates within it they can strike deals with.  The Chinese don't discern, when it comes to state ideology, they just care about getting paid.

It's a little nerve-wracking when any dictator kicks it, because of the inevitable power grabs and political jockeying.

The main players here are

Kim Jong-Un
The aging generals in the military
Kim Kyung-hui/Jang Song-thaek - Jong-il's sister and her husband.

Jong-thaek is vice chairman of the National Defense Commission, and both are known to be ambitious.  The National Defence Commission is the real seat of power in North Korean politics, and an alliance between Song-thaek and the generals is fairly likely.  Also unknown is the role Kim Jong-il's wife may yet play.

I actually find that pretty upsetting, because it shows how much the people are completely brainwashed with the regime, even school children. :(

Or it could be that not crying is harardous to one's long-term prospects.  Lots of people cried when Mao died for this precise reason.

There is also probably a lot of fear and uncertainty about what is going to happen next, which is expressing itself as mass hysteria.  I believe Zhou Enlai's death in China provoked a similar reaction.

Still, really upsetting. :(

Just imagine the mass hysteria that would ensue if Justin Bieber died.

This is probably very accurate.

Yes, is sad. But, what i can say?
They are really mad, or really not... if they are experience true sad.
Strange, we all brainwashed more or less, in differents moments of our lives.
Only we think that this is not normal and our lives are normals, but everything is the same stuff.
