WHN has totally lost the plot, and the backpedalling and goalpost moving here is championship work. A+, man.

In less cynical observations, WHN, I see that you are calling Nigel out on calling BB a racist, and going on at length about how it gets to you, and while that's pretty slanderous an insult it isn't exactly a personal one, like what BB gave to Nigel which instigated the whole thing. 

I notice too that you didn't say anything about BB's behavior until after it was pointed out by other people, and that's the important part.  AFTER it got pointed out.

Now, I'm not going to sit here and say you're doing it because you hate Nigel.  Other people are already doing that.  But can you at least see why?  I mean, if you aren't simply attacking what Nigel said because it's Nigel who said it, then why didn't you call BB out on getting seriously personal on Nigel?

Well, it's all academic now. I came to my senses and remembered that, regardless of whether some of us might find great lulz there, one of the few things we ban people for here is abusive/stalking/threatening behavior. Quite frankly, if eartha lived in North America I'd be seriously considering calling the police and/or having a restraining order taken out. And I know for damn certain that I don't want this sort of thing perpetuating itself on a site that I am legally tied to, and though I won't speak for Faust I imagine he'd feel much the same about it. So Eartha is banned from PD and if she wants to take her creepy insane rage out on the people here she'll have to find somewhere else to do it.

I think you lost a bit of the plot as well, this was my first post in this thread:

Look, I kind of said this in the other thread, and I'll throw it out again here.  I can understand why BB might be a bit taken aback by what happened in that other thread.  I'm not talking about what did or didn't happen by way of the PMs from Eartha.  I'm talking about how BB was publicly linked and sucked into that issue. 

Let's put ourselves in those shoes for a minute.  "Holy fuck WHN, you have a crazy friend who sends creepy, nutso stuff via PMs!  What's up with that?"

Think about it. Why does that conversation need to happen in the public?  It would've been one thing if it was a general thread to everyone commenting on the nutso PMs.  That's completely different then publicly linking one person who seems to have an IRL friendship with the person.  For me, it starts going down the road of public shaming.  Or at least, I could see how the person named in the thread might feel that way.

And I'm sure that wasn't the intent of that thread title, but I think we have to think for a minute about how that might feel to us if we were in BB's position.  Then we might understand why BB feels the way he does.

Just my perspective on this.

This has been the main thrust of my perspective on this episode from the beginning. 

In my second post I note that I think the racist comment was too far.

In my third post I acknowledge that the insults are coming from both sides, but that for me personally, calling someone a racist, is a step beyond calling people assholes, cunts, bitches, etc.,  Do I think those other things are nice?  Of course not, but I think calling someone a racist is just on a different level.  That is just my thing.  I think I'm free to share my opinion on that and I choose to exercise that freedom. 

Yes, and I knew this from the beginning the interpretation of me commenting on an episode initiated by Nigel.  Think what you want, but I felt it was important to have the discussion.  I still stand by my main assertion which is this whole thing would've been avoided by either keeping it in PMs or making the thread a general discussion that didn't suck in someone who didn't create the abusive and harrasing PMs.  It may not have been intended to publicly shame someone for having shitty friends, but I can see how someone might interpret that way.  Thus, why I think restraint should be exercised or at least entertained.

I remember when I first joined the Navy and was in bootcamp, I was in a compartment with 88 other women...no, let me back up. That's 88 18-year-old female people, most of whom were away from their parents (and highschool! Partay!) for the first time since they were allowed to stay out all night after Prom.

None of them could shut up.

Taps was at 2200 and Revile at 0500. New place, foreign sleeping arrangements, no privacy, nervous as hell about being in the military (G.I. JANE OMFG LOL). Did I mention none of them could shut up?

So after the RDCs left the compartment for the night, Fore and Aft watches, green as hell, standing "duty," and lights were out, the giggling, talking, crying, whimpering and general hilarity ensued.

Then, there were the "shushers."

"Shhhhh!"

"Ladies, Taps is OVER. That means shut UP and go to SLEEP"

"SHHHHHHHHH!"

"No, you SHHHHHH!"

"HEY, IF EVERYONE WOULD STOP SAYING "SHHHH," AND JUST SHUT UP, WE COULD ALL SHUT UP AND GO TO SLEEP!"
