Some of it is ritualized behavior too, right?  Like, having to flip a lightswitch a certain number of times when turning it on, or an elaborate series of steps that must be performed to do simple tasks like opening a door.

It can manifest that way. To break it down, it is repetitive, uncontrollable behavior or thoughts, or a need for something to be a certain way in order to feel OK. It can be relatively mild and innocuous, such as needing to align objects on a table a certain way, or it can be consuming and destructive, like the need to do everything in a certain way and certain order before leaving in the morning, and if anything is not done exactly right, needing to start over. It can be a word or phrase that repeats nonstop in your head, or an obsessive worrying about a particular subject.

There is obsessive-compulsive disorder, and there is obsessive-compulsive personality disorder; although they sound similar, they are significantly different.
"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."
