Guys, it's Disco Pickle.  That's really all there needs to be said.  You may as well get mad at the sun for rising.

Point.  :lulz:

Dude, you're missing the point here. He followed the child despite being advised to leave him alone by police. He was in a state of frothed-up fannaticism and racist heroism. Due, most likely, t some rather ignorant and backwards racist attitudes, he got on his high horse, pursued cnfrontation with, drew a firearm and shot a child eating candy on his way home from playing football.

I have been firing weapons since I was 11.
Rule numero uno: assume the gun is always loaded.
Rule numero dos: never point the gun at anything you don't intend to kill dead.

Dude shot a child. Time for him so sack up and be responsible. If you can't take responsibilty for where your ammunition ends up, you have no business having any.

You were clearly reading his mind the entire time.

An unarmed child is dead, and that needs accounting for.

Posting what someone was thinking when they were patrolling their own neighborhood, attempting to prevent more breakins of people's houses', as fact, or even speculation...

well that is really all it is then..  speculation.

What ISN'T speculation is that he followed the kid after the 911 dispatcher told him not to, and he said he wouldn't.

What also isn't speculation is that there were no powder burns on the kid.  He wasn't shot in a scuffle.

The fact that Zimmerman thought that someone just "walking around looking about" in the rain was cause enough to follow them and confront them with a gun, and people are willing to defend that in any way, is frightening.

It's inexcusable for the media to selectively edit the evidence to influence popular opinion... but they do it all the fucking time. DP being "angry" that they did it in this case is fucking insane.

Oh, no... the media made a PROBABLY-racist child-murderer sound DEFINITELY-racist!

Nav, don't bother arguing with him. I think he's just drunk again, and being stupid and belligerent.

Incidentally, I'm not drunk, nor have I drank anything other than orange juice and water all day.
So, just stupid and belligerent then, eh? Okay.  :lulz:

It should have been clear from the content that I was upset that facts were deliberately ignored in order to affirm the narrative.  I've been belligerent about it all day in my head.  Only now did I take time to post about it.

Guilty.

Calling me stupid and ignoring the content of the post is lazy.

You've been angry all day because the media has inaccurately represented to the disfavor of the perpetrator some of the details of a case in which, unprovoked, a grown man followed and shot to death an innocent, unarmed child, and the police not only did not arrest and charge him, but lied in order to cover his crime.

I see.

No, I've been angry at times today (not all day, that's silly) that someone (who's views I respect, despite the fact I've never met him) repeats a narrative fed to the public by one of the BIG media outlets and refuses to admit that the quotes he's been posting are not in any way the reality of the narrative "as it happened".

Quotebecause the media has inaccurately represented to the disfavor of the perpetrator some of the details

and YOU, Nigel, should REALLY fucking re-read that as if you were an impartial observer, which is pretty much impossible at this point, granted, but still.

Seriously.  Whenever DP starts getting like this, just ignore him.  It is the internet equivalent of a rolled up newspaper.  But everyone has to do it, or it's like gramma giving a kid candy when mom sent him to timeout.

But that only works for assholes who want to be right.  For people such as Ben Mack 2.0, don't show any emotion, and only say "Go away.  We don't want you here."  Anything other than a neutral response like the one above will give him what he wants, which is stuff to jack off to.

I gotta admit, I don't understand the whole "Zimmerman is obviously a racist" narrative given that he's not even white.

That said, he doesn't need to have been racially motivated in the least for what he did to be inexcusable and he should be charged with murder.

He can still be racist.  I'll admit though, the noise they're making about the racism issue keeps making me think he's white, instead of hispanic.

So even though he isn't white, it could still have been racially motivated.  But maybe it wasn't.  Either way, it's awful and sad.

Don't worry, hispanics will be the majority within the next 30-40 years, get in your prejudices now and beat the rush.

It's the race bating being fed by the media and mirrored here by people I expect to know better that is bothering me.

but an unarmed black guy was killed by an "white" guy with a gun.  It's racist until proven otherwise.

He was probably a republican and NRA member too.

Well, I have a reason why they're saying he's white.  Hispanic, Mexican, and the like aren't considered races by whoever decides these things, they're considered white.

Freeky,
Not entirely pulling this out of her ass.

He could very well  have been racially motivated; not being white (questionable; there are a lot of white hispanics) doesn't prevent someone from being racist.

But regardless, I agree with you that racism need not be a motivator for the crime to be heinous. He should be charged.

I don't see how the potential for Latinos to be a majority in the US is relevant to the conversation at all.

I also don't see how the race-baiting in the media makes it OK for Zimmerman to have murdered an unarmed kid after being clearly told not to follow or confront him by the actual police (or what passes for them in Florida).
