So, about the Hunger Games...

Am I the only person on the planet to appreciate the irony of the biggest film in America right now is one that is set in a dystopian future of a collapsed United States, where killing children is seen as entertainment?

Because, you have to admit, that's pretty lulzy.

Luna

Mostly, I'm entertained as hell at the butthurt being expressed by some of the fans because one of the most sympathetic, tragic kids in the movie is *gasp, horrors* BLACK!  How COULD they have cast her as a black girl!  If they'd KNOWN she was supposed to be black when they read the book, they wouldn't have felt so badly when she died...

I wish I was kidding.

If Luna was a furry, she'd sex humans and scream "BEASTIALITY!" at the top of her lungs at inopportune times.

I like the Luna one. She is a good one.

Cainad (dec.)

I left the theater for that very movie about ten minutes ago. Damn good flick.

And yeah, there's definitely some irony in this country's love for it. Sort of like ogling over a funhouse mirror.

Luna

It's on my list to see.  Sequel to Titans, first, I think, not because I expect any great retelling of a myth (they MAULED the last remake), but, what the hell.

Yeah...  The irony is thick...  And the people howling about how horrible it is people are going to see a movie "glorifying" children in mortal combat... obviously didn't read the books.

Yeah, that sort of made me ill too. I thought the actress who played Rue gave her a level of depth that was sort of amazing considering the briefness of her role and how few lines she had.

Well, that Twilight thing's all done right?  Something had to come along and take it's place.

Christ, don't bring that up.  The author ain't dead yet and could very well let her cat tap-dance on her keyboard for awhile and vomit out another sequel.

Didn't you know?  She had been writing one, from Edward's perspective, but someone close to her leaked the draft out and now she isn't going to finish it, probably.

I have a question: If living in Forks, WA is sufficient enough to conceal Vamp sparkle, why not just use makeup and live wherever?

I haven't read the books, but I saw Hunger Games in the theater about a week ago and it was fucking awful.

I mean, it LOOKED great, but they clearly didn't worry about trivial things like plot and dialogue.

Except for Harry Potter, I'm a book snob.  The Hunger Games books were excellent.

Sometimes I just watch stuff from the thirties, when special effects consisted of guys in gorilla suits and rubber bats on visible strings.
