:lulz: I am beyond amused, particularly at what this is going to do to our economy, and also because now rednecks are going to have to find someone new to hate.

"SPEAK ENGLISH OR GO BACK TO MEXICO!"

"Uh... OK."

You may have noticed that our economy collapsed, due to a combination of a housing bubble and banksters.

Half of my town is empty, and that's not completely atypical.  Who's going to build houses when people are not only not buying them, but are instead abandoning their mortgages?

Apartment rentals are up, home buying is in the toilet...And yeah, a lot of homes now have 3 generations living in them.  Not sure why that's funny.

Living with your parents isnt that uncommon anymore. Its still an insult regardless.

Apparently, it's hilarious.  For some reason.

Sometimes its a good idea. A friend of mine from high school lived at home until he saved up enough money to buy his own house. He bought it at the age of 29 and never lived in an apartment. Another friend lives with his mom because his dads dead and shes disabled. I would have lived with my mom for a larger chunk of my twenties if i was able to tolerate it a few years ago so i could save some money.

I stayed with my folks during the worst of the downturn, because their investments took an asskicking, and they were essentially broke.  I had a good job, so to help them with the bills, and for reasons involving my kids, I stayed with them.

It was fucking awful, I gotta say.

i thought of it as funny because i didnt think it was actually the reality of what is happening, so my bad, i thought it as absurd as in"only that would happen in the third world" like here, but i guess the line is blurring even more than i thought

here its not only common to a have 3 generations in a house, but also extended family

didnt mean offense

More people only need houses if  there ARE more people. The USA's only population growth in recent years has been due to immigration. We lose immigration, we lose population.

Didnt take offense. Just pointing out that its the reality here too. Rents really fucking expensive in some places. If youre paying rent its hard to save up for a downpayment.

So my friend says

QuoteRemember the fence they're building around the country to "keep the illegals out"? Isn't that the same thing they told the people of East Berlin?

:lulz: I like his direction, and think I am going to start spreading that rumor.
