There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that indicates that it's a danger in any way, and you'll get more mercury from eating a tuna fish sandwich. It has been removed from vaccines for children under age 6 solely due to ignorance-driven public pressure.

I thought I heard mercury OS only harmful when fumes are inhaled or it is ingested.

Any way it gets into your bloodstream is bad. Those are two ways, and injection is another.
