I actually have a Norway question that maybe you can answer:

I am under the impression that immigrating to Norway is significantly easier if you can prove that your parents or grandparents emigrated from Norway and held Norwegian citizenship. Any truth to that? America doesn't look like it's going to stop being an aloof and useless colonial master of my homeland anytime soon and on my list of countries I'd want to live in, Norway ranks higher than any other non-tropical country.

I actually don't know. But I'll look into it. :)

Awesome, and thanks in advance. Norwegian is linguistically close enough to English that I think I could learn it fairly easily, and one of the advantages of my chosen career is that I can pretty much get hired anywhere in the world that I can legally work. This isn't a spur-of-the-moment question either, I've been contemplating this for years.

I forget wich bit it was in but ill dig it up when i get home.

In the united states the kingdom of norway is considered a failed socialist state that is barely functioning and everyone has no money due to exorbitant taxes that no one wants a non functioning healthcare system and a low quality of life despite all evidence to the contrary. At least if you describe yourself as conservative. They always say that whenever you bring up any scandinavian country successfully creating a mixed economy.

lolwut. Norway has a lot of problems, but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, other than short term.

Also high taxes? 25-36% is the usual. I was under the impression that that is about the same as Murka.

Yeah, if you take sociology you get a whole different story, because Sociologists are communists out to destroy Murka.

Unless you happen to be from the Russian border regions, I don't think so.
From what I know of Norwegian immigration policy, if you're from outside Europe you can move here if you:
1. Get a job here.
2. Are a refugee of some sort (for instance of you are oppressed and from a country not allied to Norway)
3. have a near relative or spouse living in Norway.
4. Have an intention to work here, sufficient funds to survive half a year here, and an education beyond high school level.
