I liked how they introduced her, like "her mother died in an insane asylum thinking she was Queen Victoria" and my thought was, I like where I think this is going. I was not disappointed.

When Colin Stokes' 3-year-old son caught a glimpse of Star Wars, he was instantly obsessed. But what messages did he absorb from the sci-fi classic? Stokes asks for more movies that send positive messages to boys: that cooperation is heroic, and respecting women is as manly as defeating the villain. (Filmed at TEDxBeaconStreet.)

I thought this was another interesting perspective on the topic.

If you haven't already heard of her, I present to you, Camille:

Not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but I think she's nifty.  (Found her while looking for music to listen to while taking an online French course.)
It feels unreal because it's trickling up.

I don't think anyone bothered to go see Machete Kills and it's probably the film I enjoyed the most this year.

Even if you don't go see it please check out the fake trailer for Machete Kills again, it's amazing.

I enjoyed the first one, but wasn't sure they would be able to retain the magic... and wasn't sure I wanted a lesser version to be my final memory of Machete, but if you stand by it, I will give it a go.

It's not timeless like the first one.
The first was a straight forward eighties action film. It stands up without ever having seen anything from that era. This one both mocks action movie sequels and glorifies the same way the first mocked and glorified the exploration era action film.

If machete kills in space ever gets made it will be the action movie sequel when then series has lost it's way (I'm thinking the  in space sequals to leprechan, hellraiser, jason and even moonraker). And like the previous two should glorify and poke fun at everything that makes them ridiculous.
