"Billy, when I say that ethics is our number one priority and safety is also our number one priority, you should take that to mean exactly what I said. Also quality. That's our number one priority as well. Don't look at me that way, you're in the corporate world now and this is how it works."

East Coast Hustle

Oddly enough, I was just about to go look at a house for rent in that area when it happened. :lulz:

Some yahoo yelled at me, saying 'GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH', and I thought, "I'm feeling generous today.  Why not BOTH?"

That video was hilarious! "We don't know what triggered it"

Gravity, maybe?

"The bad news; there is a chance for rain here today"

JUST LIKE EVERY DAY.

And the guy whose insurance won't cover the loss of half his backyard. Because when you build a house on a bluff overlooking the ocean, especially when you cut down all the trees on top so you can have a view of that ocean, insurance companies say "no way am I covering that for landslides".

"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."

Also, he lost his BACK YARD.  A few of his neighbors lost the whole property, house, family photos, everything.

And even THEY can't really bitch, because of Sandy on the East coast.  And even THEY can't bitch on account of Fukushima.

"Half of my back yard."  Shit.

Cainad (dec.)

I don't need a friggin' Bachelor's in Geology to see how this happened. :lulz:

(Because it was pretty obviously Iason, on a "good" day)

UUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNG!

Dear humanity: if you don't know what you're doing, get the fuck away from the ocean. Unless you have a damn good reason to be near it, buying up waterfront because it's pretty is a recipe for sadness.

...Actually, maybe we should move ALL of the rich people to waterfront properties. And never let them leave.

My aunt and uncle lost two houses that way. Two. One on Lopez Island, one on Whidbey Island. It happens. The wisdom I've always heard is that if you have a house on the coastline, it's not a matter of if it falls into the ocean, it's a matter of when it falls into the ocean.

I felt a little sorry for the lady who was all "this is all we've got".

I don't believe her, because it makes exactly zero sense to have a million-dollar beach house and no other assets, but I did feel sorry for her.

The big loss is the shit that doesn't actually have any monetary value.  Family photos, etc.

Yeah, that would really suck.
