They system isn't broken, nor is it evil, rather it's our emerging ability to think of it in those terms that's making us think it is. There's nothing happening in the world that isn't working the same in every other species on the planet, right down to the cellular level. We're the pinnacle of biology and biology is a selfish, greedy destructive cunt of a thing. Biology does not create wise, peace loving, caring, sharing organisms - those are weak as shit and basically get eaten by the real stars of Darwin's show - namely the meanest, nastiest bastards that ever walked the earth.

Actually, in the case of humans, evolution selects for humans that can cooperate.  Altruism is in fact a survival trait.  Bounce that one off of a libertarian sometime and watch the fun.

Altruism within the local group, at least. But that's true for a lot of species... and even cross species in some instances (symbiotic). The problem with our modern society is that bio-survival tickets (money) have replaced the 'tribe' as the mechanism for survival. Altruism was necessary when we all depended on each other to catch our food, grow our food, cook our food, defend our territory etc. These days, if you got the cash, you don't need the tribe. Somehow we supplanted evolutionary altruism with hoarding green bits of paper. So the cut throat asshole behavior of those trying to get as much money as possible is simply a perverse expression of this basic drive.

Yes, and add to that the fact that humans alter their environment, so the usual evolutionary drives are not present.  They have been replaced by the system, which has evolutionary factors of its own.  The system works as advertised.  It's hardly the fault of the system that the average guy thinks that the system is supposed to work for HIM.

Hell, the system even says out loud that it does no such thing, yet the rubes continue to both support it, and penalize members of society that oppose it.

In short, the people who benefit from the system do not have to make any attempt to survive.  That's taken care of them by the people who get sodomized by the system and beg for more.

I have to wonder what fate would have brought us if the gun boats didn't scare the british off the great lakes, would the diease we know as freedom be contained to the unholy 13? Would those of us on the west coast speak spanish or even manderan? I'm told a fence, a simple fence aided the north at a key battle...

there's a quote I'm thinkin of but I can't recall who said it... 'a war between nations is an arguement over which map to use'

And "Borders exist where, at some point, two armies ran out of warm bodies."

What about the shift of the battlefield to the machine? As if modern warfare wasn't enough of a video game... add the ability to respawn by some gi sitting in a locked room plugging away on his combat keyboard. When toys start replacing boots on the ground, then what? Embrace skynet... point and click, with ranking system built in
Look, asshole:  Your 'incomprehensible' act, your word-salad, your pinealism...It BORES ME.  I've been incomprehensible for so long, I TEACH IT TO MBA CANDIDATES.  So if you simply MUST talk about your pineal gland or happy children dancing in the wildflowers, go talk to Roger, because he digs that kind of shit

Those are just toys.  In the end, it's a kid on the ground with a rifle.

As the long bow became popular, there was some thought that it was The Weapon of The Future. In the end though, few were bowmen and most were still slugging it out in the mud with sticks and rakes and clubs and swords. Evolution of tools is part of the Monkey Evolutionary Experience.

Mesozoic Mister Nigel

Today I saw a bunch of cops wearing jackets emblazoned "GANG ENFORCEMENT" searching a couple cars outside of a convenience store.

They might as well just change those labels to "BLACK ENFORCEMENT". Truth in advertising and all.

Love to be a fly on the wall if and when any of them come across an actual gang, rather than the innocent civilians they're paid to harass and terrorise :lulz:

Hang on. Aren't the enforcers/cops supposed to enforce order?
So they are fighting to preserve gangs?
I think a bureaucrat made a tiny mistake.

Yeah, it's americans, dude. It has the word "force" hidden in there, so it's a good word to help instil fear in the nigg.. gang members of indeterminate ethinicity.

Saw them down the road at a Thai Restaurant a couple of days ago. There were a lot of them. They didn't smile.

...plus I saw an 'X3' tag up north about a week ago. If it's legit, 'Gang Enforcement' is about to get a lot more colorful. Did someone mention Bones?

So what's next?  Do we just accept the current state of things as 'business as usual'?  It would be amazing to me if we could somehow change the current system to thrive on cooperation rather than corporation.  The consensus, it seems, is that the System is just too big and out of control and that any dissent or change just gets absorbed or consumed.

So we are just, in short, fucked at birth?
