The fact that this board had this kind of effect on someone new is definitely a red flag for me. New people don't know who's who, your cultural norms and fuck all else. Nice you all were cool after the apology, but man, this thread makes me wonder what the hell is going on here...

"Good" is relative.  There is awesome hiding in a lot of threads, including some that start off with total stupidity.  Poke around, pay special attention to any of the old threads that people bump.
