:\
so are you implying that, although it is not widespread in the implementation, this is what's broadly desired in and by the texas school system?

Some teachers don't give you any trouble. Others can have the same kid the same year and not get through two weeks without calling the cops. It's got to be perversion. Got any other ideas?

Conditioning the kids and parents to WANT the return of corporal punishment by repeatedly locking kids up for things like tardies and interrupting in class, and endlessly dragging whole families to court, make as much sense as anything, as far as an explanation for that shit goes.

So what kind of "educator" wants the return of corporal punishment? It's pretty easy to figure out.

I'm not opposed to corporal punishment for children of the age that that makes a difference, as long as there are strict controls on it.
this is obviously way beyond the pale.
and it has been my experience through a good number of TX ISDs that this is not the norm by a longshot.  I'll grant that i haven't lived in any of  the more provincial areas of TX, but at least in the larger urban/suburban areas that i've been to, this would be totally not accepted or desired by any.

Another reason could be that they really aren't cut out to be teachers and just can't handle the average excitable child.

I myself have been in situations where I wish I could have beat the ever-loving shit out of this 13-year-old kid who kept beating up on my ex's kid and had this fucking smarmy look on his face like "What are you going to do, ho?  Nothing, that's what."

That kid, I thought to myself back then, needed a fucking beating.

In my defense, I was not a happy person back then, and in a very bad place mentally.

Big difference in beating up another kid and showing up for class late. Just sayin.

I imagine Austin might have a pretty good school system.

You don't want to know about Seguin.  :horrormirth:

i went to primary and secondary school in lubbock, san antonio, houston, and DFW, and lived in Austin afterwards.
i'm thinking that shit wouldn't fly in the cities i've lived.  springtown doesn't look to be too damned far from the city, but doesn't look to be a real destination location, either.

it just seems inappropriate to roll the eyes and exclaim, 'fucking TX' on this one. (we have plenty of other opportunity for that) but this is a fucked up group not indicative of the whole by a long shot.

Some of that might be a "when" thing. I went to a shitty little school in Columbus, TX and it wouldn't have flown in those days either, but it might now.
