I'm going to have to research this a little. My brain is boggling. Holy heck, though. Imagine everything this theory opens up.

Oh yeah, looks 100% legit. Too legit to QUIT, even!

I'm hoping that someone who understands this sort of thing a bit better can shed a bit of light on it or dumb it down a bit. Considering that 10 dimensions have been proposed before and this one apparently explains some unexplainable thing, it does seem like a pretty cool thing. Though, I can't picture a dimension rotating. I know, I know, I'm not supposed to picture these things because then they make even less sense.

I haven't read the article but cnc machines are some times 5or 6 axis machubes which means that you can dimension parts un 5 or 6 directions with the A B and C axes being rotational ones so. ...I think I'll read that article now. ...

LMNO

1) Nope.

2) a "Dimension" in particle physics more or less translates to "a particular way we can set up a device to click when a parameter is detected." So, in less bulky terms, it means "an observational perspective."
To understand why this is no big deal, imagine the different ways to observe a waterfall. From cliff's edge, underneath, from behind, or in a barrel, going over the edge. All those at analogus to "dimensions".

The article is written horribly, but there may be some good from the papers. It's just impossible to tell from the article.

I thought that there was some theory involving nine dimensions and the origins of the universe a couple years ago, some computer model in Japan or something.

In all seriousness, the article linked here triggers my woo-woo alert.

I think a big part of that is that it's yahoo news reporting on it.

It looks like it might be a book rather than an article, as well.

Specifically, what sets off my triggers:

QuoteEdward R. Close, PhD, PE, and Vernon M. Neppe, MD, PhD, FRSSAf, have announced a profoundly important finding that affects the basic assumptions of physics and changes the way scientists understand life and the Universe.

Working for what institution? Are they like, freelance scientists? This finding sounds terribly important, people must be talking about it!

Google search reveals... nope.

Quote"Our current concept of reality might be incomplete," Dr. Neppe commented. "Dr. Close and I have demonstrated that we live in a 9-dimensional spinning finite reality, not just our traditional three dimensions of space happening in a present moment of time. The rest of our reality is hidden beyond our direct view. These additional dimensions might provide many keys to life, and explain many mysteries of science including amplifying Consciousness Research or even new models in Space—Time."

Consciousness Research? Sounds neurosciency. Or possibly time-cubey. It could go either way. It definitely sounds vague enough to not mean much of anything in this context.

Quote9-dimensional spin revolutionizes thinking not only in our current model of physics, but in other sciences, too, such as biology, psychology and consciousness studies, and should have major implications for the fundamental structure of our universe:

    understanding subjective experiences (e.g. meditation, near-death experiences, altered states of consciousness);
    reformulating basic scientific assumptions;
    revising core philosophical ideas;
    mathematically applying this to other unsolved physical paradoxes;
    even space-time travel

These words all sound very important, possibly important enough that nobody will notice that they don't mean anything.

QuoteIn February 2012, an Astronomy Professor quipped sarcastically, without having read the proposed 'Triadic Dimensional-Distinction Vortical Paradigm' (TDVP) —the 'Theory of Everything' (TOE) model of Drs. Neppe and Close: "When you can explain why the Cabibbo Angle is what it is, then I'll believe you." He knew that no scientist had ever solved this challenge since it's discovery in 1963.

Specifically, no-one had been able to solve the mystery of why this 'Cabibbo mixing angle' in elementary Particle Physics was the strange size it was, namely 13.04±0.05 degrees. Drs. Close and Neppe not only explained the why of the Cabibbo angle, but in so doing, they stumbled upon a dramatic breakthrough on the nature of reality.

This sounds like it means something! Where is the citation? I couldn't find it so I googled it. Found it and also learned what university Neppe works for. So far so good! http://www.neuroquantology.com/index.php/journal/article/view/448

QuoteTDVP proposes a unifying broader model integrating the broader sciences. It can explain the narrower day-to-day physical realities, as well as many broader unexplained models in Consciousness Research, order, life and biology, and the Psychological Sciences. Many aspects of TDVP are validated by mathematics. These are described in the e-book Reality Begins with Consciousness (RBC) by Neppe and Close.

Oh... an e-book? Really? I'm not opposed to e-books, but it does ratchet down their credibility a couple notches.

QuoteNo other theories have developed the concept of finite 9-dimensional rotation. Some String Theories involve 10 Dimensions, and suggest 9 'spaces' with 1 time dimension. But these theories generally involve folding of dimensions, not spin, as a predominant feature, and do not fully explain basic derivations such as the Cabibbo Angle.

Ah, OK, this mentions the String Theory thing I thought I'd heard about before, and sort of explains why it's different.

QuoteAbout Edward Close: A skilled physicist, creative mathematician, deep-thinking cosmologist, acclaimed environmental engineer and Dimensional Biopsychophysicist. Transcendental Physics is one of Dr. Close's 8+ books. (www.erclosetphysics.com)

Hmmmm, those are a lot of titles, all right! What does Google turn up on these guys, besides their self-published work?

Oh.

But they could totally still be 100% legit great thinkers with an amazing discovery that will completely change the way we think about physics and everything else, in which case I am sure the scientific world will soon be abuzz with their data.

Yeah, I just saw on Facebook too that Kai mentioned that there's no mention of it elsewhere.
