Don't get me wrong, I greatly appreciate the fact that you're at least putting effort into sincerely arguing your points. It's an argument I've enjoyed having. It's just that your points are wrong and your reasons for thinking they're right are stupid.

However, your link is actually more useful than mine. And the thread hasn't been bumped in forever, so good work.

Night Vale quickly became one of my favorite things.

Cardinal Pizza Deliverance.

It is becoming a thing all over Tumblr and wherever else. There's fanfiction in the works and odd drawings and . . . yeah. I'm waiting for the Night Vale equivalent of bronies now.

THANK YOU for making it clear to me why I hate all the fan art. I did not understand my rage before, and now it makes sense.

The third eye and tattoos are bullshit, but everyone also draws him way too young. I know the guy in real life is not old but Night Vale Cecil is CLEARLY at least 45, am I right? And really, he's an invisible voice behind a microphone anyway.

Also, fuck shippers. Shipping is this horrible thing wherein adults strip away everything that's actually interesting about a work of fiction and reduce it to the equivalent of a four-year-old smacking two random toys together and making kissy noises.

Well he sure as shit doesn't SOUND like a wispy blonde 27-year-old hipster, like damn near every piece of fanart depicts him.

What?

"Shipping," or 'shipping, short for "relationship."

It's the thing where people fantasize about characters in romantic situations (whether or not it makes any sense based on the source material), often with fanfiction or art that focuses entirely on those relationships. This is to the exclusion of everything that makes the characters, and the work from which they originate, interesting in the first place. If the author didn't include lots of "will they or won't they?" tension in the original work, then the shippers will create that tension. These are also the kind of people who sometimes get legitimately mad at an author if they write a different relationship than the one the fandom wanted to happen.

I'm kind of being facetious when I say "adults," because it seems to be mainly a teenager thing. Sometimes I forget I'm 23 and should go easy on the 16-year-olds. :lulz:

Yeah, don't ship.

FUCKING SLASH.

This. I can accept fanfic when it results in things like "My Immortal."

THANKFULLY

despite the horrorshow that is the Tumblr fanbase, which can produce dumb bullshit even faster than Filthy Assistant can produce wrong answers,

the actual podcast itself remains not-bullshit and completely awesome.

YES I think that Cecil is in his late 30's at the youngest. But even more importantly, nobody knows what he looks like.
