Your incessant psychedelic tripping might not be such a bad idea after all.

QuoteLSD and Other Psychedelics Not Linked With Mental Health Problems, Analysis Suggests

Aug. 19, 2013 — The use of LSD, magic mushrooms, or peyote does not increase a person's risk of developing mental health problems, according to an analysis of information from more than 130,000 randomly chosen people, including 22,000 people who had used psychedelics at least once.

Researcher Teri Krebs and clinical psychologist Pål-Ørjan Johansen, from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology's (NTNU) Department of Neuroscience, used data from a US national health survey to see what association there was, if any, between psychedelic drug use and mental health problems.

The authors found no link between the use of psychedelic drugs and a range of mental health problems. Instead they found some significant associations between the use of psychedelic drugs and fewer mental health problems.

PLEASE NOTE that this DOES NOT mean I want you to talk to me about your drug trip, because I still don't care. Nobody fucking cares.

This makes sense. You always hear stories about people wrecking their minds with this stuff, but I always figured that a lot of those stories were just people who already had mental problems. Kinda like how drinking doesn't turn people into a racist it just lets it out.

.....So there we were in the cornfields and then the wind came up and it was like, man, the corn itself willed it. Then we walked through the parted corn and I could feel time. Then widespread panic started their second set so we hightailed it back to my friend's Mom's Jeep Cherokee but, dude, I know that could of been my chance to be a magikal wizard. I was heavily into psychedelics for a while when I was younger. I went totally batshit insane. I never saw the two as connected, aside from the fact that a lot of the tricks I used to make myself sane again, I learned when I was tripping.

That makes a lot of sense to me.

I have no moral sense at all on LSD.  When I realized this, I never touched the stuff again.

Peyote, different story.   :lulz:

I will say that I don't think it had any impact on my overall mental health at all.

Except that it made me, I think, a LITTLE more flexible when it comes to my perception of awful shit.

Weird, theres a very broad perception surrounding psychedelics, some schizophrenia, cognitive and memory decay and a lot of things...

Like eating lizards.

This is why I gave up drugs.

I've eaten mushrooms a few times.

Pure unadulterated fun, never found it especially profound or deep or whatever, just damn good times.

Never ate any lizards, either.  :lulz:

Let one lizard do it, pretty soon you have a hundred, all up in your shit, bobbing their smug little heads.

There are a lot of people out there who never come into contact with their own mind. They run on so many damned filters they've forgotten how to do anything else. A lot of the folks I've seen well and truly freak out on drugs was because, it seemed, they came into contact with their own head and didnt like it so much.

I had something very much like a breakdown and took paxil for six months after eating some of these fucking seeds. Bad things happened, in my head, for months. I would say I also had a lot of existsing anxiety and depression problems, the reasons whichfore the magical seeds explained to me: I was an asshole.

Bad times. But good for me, in retrospect.

Yeah, I guess that if you haven't spent a lot of time really getting to know yourself, having your filters temporarily stripped could really be quite traumatizing.
