Surely this is the same idiot scheme as Becks? No one would try and replicate that insanity.

This is about the 4th try in 3 years.  Fortunately for the po'buckers involved, nobody has managed to raise nearly enough money.

HOW COULD THIS BE?  THEY'RE ALL PRE-RICH!

It's the "pre" part that is saving their lives and the lives of their children.

This thing sounds even more horrible than the oceanic one.

How could this not end well when it starts out so beautifully? And it is nothing like a prison. It is the exact opposite of a prison. It is a square mile patch of land -- the last mile of freedom in the whole world. The walls surrounding it are there because the rest of the surface of the planet is a prison. They are prison walls, but they surround the rest of the planet, not the patch of Liberty safely quarantined inside.

This is going to be a horrorshow, if it ever happens.  I'm wondering how they will deal with trangressions, criminal or social, what happens when someone tries to leave, and what will happen when the state police show up.

But let's say that doesn't happen.  Let's say that they just expel people who can't get along, and put up no fuss with the state police.

What are they going to be raising their children to be?  What kind of education and moral guidance will be going on in there?  And when the compound finally goes to shit, what sort of people are going to be coming back into society?

Roger, I don't think you are understanding the meaning of the word Utopia. There's no need to even consider those things. The Citadel is going to be PERFECT.

I think the answer to the bold would be "Death". It's a one size fits no-one solution and seems like just the vibe they're going for.

You can't have some kind of totalitarian camp without the constant fear of death and doom. It's just not cricket.

I'd give it less than a generation before carousel was implemented. The old being a terrible burden on everyone and so on.

I really think someone should tell them about kickstarter.

A progress bar might just get this moving. And the butthurt if it didn't make it's goal would be hilarious.

QuoteThe Citadel is evolving as a planned community where residents are bound together by:

    Patriotism
    Pride in American Exceptionalism
Our proud history of Liberty as defined by our Founding Fathers, and
Physical preparedness to survive and prevail in the face of natural catastrophes — such as Hurricanes Sandy or Katrina — or man-made catastrophes such as a power grid failure or economic collapse.

The Citadel is not your typical planned community where the developer's objective is selling cookie-cutter homes at the highest possible profit-margin.

The Citadel is not profit-driven. The Citadel is Liberty-driven: specifically Thomas Jefferson's Rightful Liberty.

Marxists, Socialists, Liberals and Establishment Republicans will likely find that life in our community is incompatible with their existing ideology and preferred lifestyles.

DESCRIPTION: The Citadel Community will house between 3,500 and 7,000 patriotic American families who agree that being prepared for the emergencies of life and being proficient with the American icon of Liberty — the Rifle — are prudent measures. There will be no HOA. There will be no recycling police and no local ordinance enforcers from City Hall.

LOCATION: We are in the process of selecting the ideal location among the beautiful mountains of Idaho in the American Redoubt.

PROJECT LAUNCH: We plan to purchase the full site for the Citadel in 2013/2014, as soon as resources become available and a final site has been selected, and break ground soon after. Even before unveiling our national advertising campaign, more than 200 families have reserved space within our community!

WHY APPLY FOR RESIDENCE: If living in an affordable, safe, well-prepared, patriotic community where your children will be educated in school rather than indoctrinated appeals to you, consider the Citadel. Approved applicants receive a Lifetime Lease (paid off in only 30 years). No credit check. No background check. Zero down payment. Zero interest. Zero property taxes.

HOW TO APPLY: Simply read through the information here on our website. If you believe the Citadel is ideal for you and your family, complete our application. More of your questions may be answered at our FAQ page.

HOUSING DETAILS: All homes will be built of poured concrete for exceptional strength and durability. Your home will be built to your specs (details available at this website) with utilities stubbed to the interior. You select the facade for the exterior of your home. You are responsible for completing the interior of your home as you wish. You may choose to do the work yourself, or hire contractors. But every single detail, from paint to tiles to counters, is your choice.

If Liberty has been missing from the life of your family, consider the Citadel for your new home.

Didn't we see something like this recently?

I think that might actually be it... I seem to recall making fun of them before.

This is a fascinating question: Q6: Are you now, or have you ever been a member of, or associated with any racist group or subversive association that espouses the violent overthrow of these United States or any individual State?

I'd like to see a gay couple apply for a residence.  Could be fun.
