So the judge ruled that this kids pathological irresponsibility is due to the parents' neglect?

They better be getting ALL of the parents' money.

ALL OF IT!

I gotta ask, what color is the sky in your world?   :lulz:

Here's what's going to happen.  Relatives of victims will file a lawsuit.  Parents will offer a settlement.  If settlement is accepted, that's that.  If settlement is not accepted, parents will lawyer the relatives of the victims to death.  The end.

"Billy, when I say that ethics is our number one priority and safety is also our number one priority, you should take that to mean exactly what I said. Also quality. That's our number one priority as well. Don't look at me that way, you're in the corporate world now and this is how it works."

1.) it depends primarily on what the flying unicorn-pegasi had for breakfast that day.

2.)That sounds about right, but having the judge blame the parents in the criminal case has to help some, right?

It even has a name now: "The Affluence Defense".

It's got more than a name now too, it's got precedent. This is going to be valuable as fuck for all sorts of people who could conceivably end up in courts in the next few years.

This:
QuoteWFAA ABC reported that Miller said the teen's parents gave him "freedoms no young person should have."
gets me thinking that it's a small step to justify "I'm so rich I have freedoms no person should have" as a last ditch get out of jail. The main thing it seems you need to prove is that wealth disconnects you from the law which is making me start to laugh.

So freedom != responsibility...  Act accordingly.  :horrormirth:

Q. G. Pennyworth

Step 1: Poor kid shoots this kid

Step 2: Hire shrink to invent "Povertunomia," the mental illness resulting from growing up in a poor environment and not being familiar with effective solutions other than violence

Step 3: No one goes to jail ever again

(lol, of course the poor kid will go to jail, nothing is fair ever)

I was reading that going "Yes, yes..." until I got to this:

QuoteInstead of jumping to fill up prisons, let's start putting youth from disadvantaged backgrounds in treatment facilities.

I still think the solution is to give Texas back to Mexico.

Better because, you know, extradition proceedings rarely get rendered to US by France, on principle. :lulz:
