Just got the news that my nephew has a greater than 70% chance of having bone cancer in his knee. 14 years old. Shit.

That there is a raw deal. :(

Aye.

I looked up osteosarcoma, looking for evidence that surely there's got to be some good news for the kid.

Nope.

5-year survival rate, in the best case scenario, can reach as high as 70%-80%. No data published on 10-year survival rates.
Im'ma sit right here and hope it's a totally false alarm.

Vex, I'm really sorry.

Nigel, that's one thing I'm gonna try to make. Pics will be posted in the usual place, when it happens.

Fred, enjoy it while it lasts.

Getting drunk again. I'LL SHOW THAT HANGOVER  :argh!: hopefully this time I wont wake up covered in bruises with a swollen lip.

Gawd, I miss being that young, when that kinda shit was rote.

I mean, sure, I did the exact same thing today, but still.

I hope to continue this until my hair is grey. Actually my hair might be grey I don't know I keep dyeing it weird colors...

A word from the future: Cardio.

I'm not kidding. If you're going to fuck up your body, make sure your body can take it.

Trust me. I'd be in a much better place if I did a solid hour of cardio every day in my 20s.

I run 3 times a week. Or I try to run. These 60 yr old men lap me

Ugh I am so tired. That was the un-punkest punk show I've ever been to.

Shit, that is terrible.

A girl that I went to school with had/has bone cancer. They had been systematically removing her bones and replacing them with metal since she was about 6. She seemed to be okay, but was very proud of being a cyborg. So there ARE options, but I guess it comes down to the severity of the disease, and what treatment options he may have.

I just hope that because there seems to be an option, you know not all is lost. I hope things work out for the best.

Same here Vex.  I know it doesn't sound like a good chance, but 30% is something at least.

I take it they haven't biopsied it yet? Here's hoping it's something else entirely, or, barring that, that they've caught it in early-stage. Osteosarcomas have a pretty good surgical remission rate if they're caught early.
