Day 4 of no smoking and I can't sleep and I wonder how many windowpanes I can make it through on the first dive. Anyone else quit smoking without harming yourself or others? I have failed to do so and I need pointers.
If I had a million dollars, I'd put it all in a sensible mutual fund.

I have never been a hardcore smoker but some of my friends have managed it by hiking a lot or otherwise upping their physical activity.
"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."

Trying. The only time I didn't want to slay people was when water skiing this morning. Physical activity helps, but I think it better I go hiking by myself. Not that anyone wants to hang with me right now.

Actually had one friend say "maybe just cut back instead of completely quitting?" And she's a non-smoker...

Why quite smoking? Smoking what?  *smiles*  There are many non-toxic nicotine options (laughing at the attributed non-toxic boast, considering). Some simple things help purge such toxins, citrus is one, and my ultimate favorite is eucalyptus oil. Aroma therapy can seriously help in reducing cravings and soothe irritability. However, it depends on the individual and if you manage to smoke one less than yesterday, that IS progress!

Just one question: What habit are you going to replace smoking with?

Lemon heads are pretty good, as are red hots.  Gives you something to chew on and occupy yourself.  Be careful though, too many and you'll just burn off all of your taste buds.
Straight-up sticks of cinnamon are good to suck on too.
It's rough man, but four days means you're almost through the worst of it, it'll get easier from here.  Think of all the money that you'll be saving. Best of luck to you.

Keep it up! You are doing great and almost through the worst part!
Hiking is a great idea, it usually is but it is extra good in this instance.

I've experienced meth, crack, and nicotine cravings/withdrawals in my life. Crack and nicotine were almost identical. Meth was, comparatively, a walk in the park.

It's a nasty-ass feeling...but it's an expected nasty ass feeling. So, that's something, right?

My boyfriend and I are working on it. I was never a real heavy smoker, but have had 2 in the last week and a half or so. We smoked a bit at the festival we went to 2 weeks ago and bought a pack to split after that, but I'm fairly confident I've smoked less than a pack in the past month or so. I think it was more psychological with me, since I find myself mildly irritable when encountering one of my triggers (just finished a meal, drinking beer, etc.) but otherwise not so bad. Distraction and plowing through the bad mood are the best I'm doing right now. Was using an e-cig but we were running low on cartridges so let my boyfriend use up the rest of them.

He's been smoking longer and more than I have, so it's definitely harder on him, but he's getting there. Probably smoked more actual cigarettes than me in the past month, but compared to how it was, huge difference. The electric cigarette seems to help a lot. We ran out of cartridges and should be receiving new ones soon, so in the meantime he's bought some disposables, which are ok, but don't seem to work as good (or always be fully functioning when you get them). He also bought a tin of snus to hold him over, which isn't much better than butts, but he's doing good. He's debated using the gum or patches. We'll see.

I'd say a good electronic cigarette can help with the cravings. Beyond that distraction, in the form of physical activity or otherwise, seems to be key.

Good luck!

Paranoia is a disease unto itself, and may I add, the person standing next to you, may not be who they appear to be, so take precaution.

If there is no order in your sexual life it may be difficult to stay with a whole skin.
