TESTEMONAIL:  Right and Discordianism allows room for personal interpretation. You have your theories and I have mine. Unlike Christianity, Discordia allows room for ideas and opinions, and mine is well-informed and based on ancient philosophy and theology, so, my neo-Discordian friends, open your minds to my interpretation and I will open my mind to yours. That's fair enough, right? Just claiming to be discordian should mean that your mind is open and willing to learn and share ideas. You guys are fucking bashing me and your laughing at my theologies and my friends know what's up and are laughing at you and honestly this is my last shot at putting a label on my belief structure and your making me lose all hope of ever finding a ideological group I can relate to because you don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about and everything I have said is based on the founding principals of real Discordianism. Expand your mind.

Relevant. Tumblr's "Dashcon" turned out to be a megashitshow.

BALL PIT.

EXTRA HOUR IN THE BALL PIT.

Mother of god. How can it go so wrong? SA 4chan and reddit have been pulling them off for years with a lot less planning and smaller budgets.

I don't know how SA or Reddit do things, but IIRC, 4chan's most successful large events haven't been dedicated "4chanCon" type events, but rather just a couple panels at existing anime cons, etc. Basically, they succeed by piggy-backing off of otherwise extant events that have non-4chan related draws to them.
Perhaps Tumblr failed by trying to hold a con exclusively for itself...I mean, even 4chan's events are lacklustre when they're dedicated to 4chan itself: something to the beat of "4 guys from /k/ went to the gun range, but no one brought anything to shoot" or "3 people from /x/ went to three seperate graveyards hoping to meet up to hunt ghosts, but failed to agree on which graveyard" or even "two guys from /b/, each pretending to be a girl met up for sex, only to be sadly dissapointed".

Where were the gay porn panels and workshops?

Tumblr is for gay porn, isn't it?

Although that does make the "ball pit" more interesting.

Alpearently, someone pissed in the ballpit at some point, so id hazard that it appeals more to urolagnia enthusiasts than those with an explicit penchant for homoerotica.
