I think we need a new name for Bernie Bros, seeing as how they don't give a shit what he thinks anymore.

Are leftist and liberal distinct terms, now?  I must have missed the memo.

In general, it distinguishes the centrist/conservative Democrat from the progressive/socialist Independent (or something like that)

Like, a lot of "Karens" are liberals -- they vote blue no matter who, and also call the cops on Black people for being Black in their neighborhood.

Edit: You know the "white moderates" that MLK wrote about in the Letter From Birmingham Jail?  Them.

From my view, Liberals wanna regulate Capitalism because they think that will solve the inequity crisis and prevent Fascism. A Leftist insists that Capitalism is a stepping stone to Fascism, and that it must be eradicated and replaced in order to prevent Fascism.

Liberals, as LMNO indicated, miss the fundamental point, and inherently support the Fascist-facing status quo.

I think this shift in verbiage definition is a reaction to the Right shifting the Overton Window too far in their direction. Political Discourse is too far Right, so it's time to shift the dialogue more Left until we're offered Candidates that will open a more direct path to Revolution.
This Certified Pope™ reserves the Right to, on occasion, "be a complete dumbass", and otherwise ponder "idiotic" and/or "useless" ideas and other such "tomfoolery." [Aforementioned] are only responsible for the results of these actions and tendencies when they have had their addictive substance of choice for that day.

Being a Product of their Environment's Collective Order and Disorder, [Aforementioned] also reserves the Right to have their ideas, technologies, and otherwise all Intellectual Property stolen, re-purposed, and re-attributed at Will ONLY by other Certified Popes. Corporations, LLC's, and otherwise Capitalist-based organizations are NOT capable of being Certified Popes.

Battering Rams not included.

Thanks, I think I get it.

I usually think of liberal as meaning "left of centre, but not necessarily hard-core socialist", while it seems the American definition currently puts liberal somewhat to the right of centre, which I would call "moderate conservatism".

In real terms?

Liberals are still liberals.

Lefties are mostly populists.  Like a slightly smarter version of MAGA freaks.

One will also be unable to understand ideas like "maximum wage" and the other will be rather offended about it.

It seems to me that the confusion over political labels' accelerating changes reveals the fact that a one dimensional model is ridiculous and harmful.

For example, in other parts of the world, being republican and a democrat mean the same thing... but in your personal american lingo it seems that when you guys speak of a republic, it refers to the time when slaves were not human, thus, "everyones decision mattered" except said sub-human slaves.

It's not the first time he's floated this either. Of course being liable for prosecution the moment he stops being President certainly isn't a perverse incentive for him to stay in office for forever or anything...

Faust

The last time he suggested it his followers tried the "He's joking to upset fragile liberals" card. Now he has moved on to openly discussing his plans to be President-For-Life, I'd hope he has alienated some of those people who defended him the first time
