Might move to Wisconsin, should be interesting.

How far into Wisconsin? You its best not go to Richland Center center in an unenclosed vehicle, and the area known as The Pines should be avoided at all costs! The Dells, however, live up to all of the hype and then some.

If you see Suu on Facebook, congratulate her.  She just got her masters degree.

Could someone do that on my behalf please? I'm still abstaining from such things and while this is excellent news nothing is likey to break the embargo
Nine naked Men just walking down the road will cause a heap of trouble for all concerned.

I can now design, develop, and deploy full stack web apps though. And I've got a few promising leads, but still....

I'm going to get into bots pretty soon, applied to my own company but it looks like that one's ripe pickings for consultancy if that's your bag. All the big players have bot projects in the pipeline and (unlike wi the internet) we have the infrastructure here already and everyone is already connected to so there's no technological barriers to adoption like last time round.

If I was looking to freelance, I'd be getting in early and trying to get a couple of projects under my belt, targeting businesses and hooking a bot into their booking/ordering/erp/whatever system. The use cases as far as I can see are damn near any scenario which currently benefits from having a computer system in the first place.

Never been near python so I couldn't really say. Been reading up on tensorflow but, tbh, it's kinda got me mystified for the time being. This AI shit is so different from programming I'm having a hard time getting my head around it. Apples and oranges doesn't even begin to describe it, more like comparing apples to talking jellyfish

I was thinking there's Theano, with the Lasagne extension from nolearn.  And also pyCaffe, the python module of Caffe.  Theano's relatively easy to install, Caffe's faster, particularly when run from binary, though compiling it is not "for the faint of heart" (shit-ton of dependencies)

Driving out to CO on Friday for 2 weeks to gauge if I could stand moving back or not. Very heavily leaning towards yes, but the 2 weeks + the drive in that span will determine it for me.

It's a shitty schrodinger-esque situation unfortunately. If his cancer worsens & he's gone in 2 years, i'll hate myself if i move but i'd be happy if i stayed. If he's still around in 5 years, I'd hate myself if i stayed but be happy if I moved.

Having the new car which can do the drive helps my thoughts that i'll be able to drive back more often than i did the first 5 years i was in CO. Sigh. We'll see how it goes.
We appear to be doomed by our DNA to repeat the same destructive behaviors our forebears have repeated for millenia. If anything our problem solving skills have actually diminished with the advent of technology & our ubiquitous modern conveniences. & yet despite our predisposition towards fear-driven hostility; towards what we anachronistically term primitive behavior another instinct is just as firmly encoded in our make-up. We are capable as our ancestors were of incredible breathtaking acts of kindness. Every hour of every day a man risks his life at a moments notice to save another. Forget for a moment the belligerent benevolent billionaires who grant the unfortunate a crumb of costfree cake. I speak of pure acts of selflessness. A Mother who rushes into the street to save a child from a speeding vehicle. A person who runs into a burning building to reach a family trapped on the upper story. Such actions, such moments, such unconscious selfless decisions, define what it is to be human

Madison is a pretty cool town. I was considering moving there when I eventually quit LaX since it's halfway between here and my hometown Racine. I'm not sure that's what I want to really DO though. I might try and set up in a new state. I've been in 'Sconsin all my damn life and really don't want that to be all I've seen before I die.
