Looks like Gingrinch is backpedaling on the self-pardon thing.  I'm not sure I agree with him, that the congressional reaction would necessarily be as bad as he thinks, mostly because Congress are so supine that nothing less than Melania's corpse stuffed into the White House freezers would rouse them (and even that is 50/50)....but I suspect he has now realised Trump is actually considering it, and that would mean Trump having to admit guilt for obstruction of justice and collusion with Russia - which I highly doubt Trump realises - and that would be a disaster beyond anything thus far, and it would irrevocably taint everyone who threw in with Trump by association.

Ali's conviction does not exist, as it was overturned in 1971, so there is nothing to pardon.
