Kewl, I like how the current git-hub master-branch paradigm works, it's just I can't be bothered with constantly looking over my shoulder to see how some new automatic OS update effectively nuked everything in /usr/local. Meh, don't even get me started with audio VST's. My next upgrade is gonna be an actual time-machine.

I certainly understand the appreciation for the freedom and simplicity of the old Unix-based OS's.
There's supposed to be some way of encapsulating projects and dependencies with independent ENVironments... I'm just starting to hit my limit with this stuff.

Are we talking media based projects? (In reference to your mention of Audio VSTs)

Or just basic data procesing/API project version management?

Because if I recall, they have various project management systems that specialize in organizaton of specific types of projects. Just can't recall any names at the moment.

How are computers so exhausting I just spent 12 hours struggling to get this shitty laptop working, which included the last few hours doing a factory reset and putting Chrome on. I shouldn't be this tired, it's just basically waiting around for shit to happen.

It's the boredom that gets you. Sitting for hours on end watching a busy pointer, knowing the whole time that the second you walk out the room the motherfucker is going to ask you something and halt the install until it gets an answer. It's very draining.

That sounds like fun, as well as highly marketable. You already have a BA, right?

It is fun. It's what I was doing before I had a huge lapse in judgement for 8 years and enlisted.

Yes, from the University of Washington, Art, Media an Culture. I should be good with the word writing bullshiting my way into jobs but nothing I'm even slightly directly qualified to do has seemed appealing. AND after failing to get into any of the MFA programs I applied for I just don't even.

You can leverage the BA to make your AAS far more marketable/profitable. Sounds like a great combination!

It would be nice to do the semi-hitech stuff i was doing before the Army, commanding machines to make satcom components out of super-alloys.

Yeah, that sounds incredibly cool.

My work week is looking like fun.  Working tonight and tomorrow, then I have a night off, then I have to attend mandatory training (on "respecting boundaries", only 4 hours thank god), then two more nights off, then in for 4 nights.

My copy of Windows broke itself. Directly after doing a reset install, too. I am so sick of Windows and all its bullshit, and I can't afford a copy of Mac, so Linux it is! ADVENTURE!

Our work copy of Windows has been invalid for, like, the past 3 weeks.  I'm eagerly awaiting the moment that MS brick our reception PC for counterfeiting.

If it's win10 I think the cutoff is around 28 days.

I'm surprised they're using legit software. Probably one of the only places in the UK that is.

I know this is a thing, and I shouldn't react based on biases of my own experience etc...

But no, pregnancy is not super awesome fun times.  Pooping for two sucks.

I'm suspecting my sister is an alien because she's had two kids and describes it as  wonderful and addictive, and she wants more kids but won't\can't due to husband.

I found being pregnant interesting the first time, because I like novel experiences, and a festival of suck I couldn't wait to be over with the other two times. I like having kids, I just don't like bearing kids.

Feel free to vent, I can at least offer moral support.

Yeah, I was kinda the same with my first, up until the gestational diabetes part, then I was just wanting it to be over.

I have two sisters both younger than me, one which has two kids and the other which is pregnant with her first.   First sister is not nearly talking to the other one enough because she has to keep telling me how wonderful having babies is.  Nope not really.

The second is a bit into health food woo and posts anti vaccine memes.  One of my blood tests showed I have no measles antibodies, so always fun.  I was told to get the MMR shot right after this one is born.

My daughter just tested on the autism spectrum, if she brings that shit up I'm going to smack her.  Maybe wait till she has hers then smack her.  It will be interesting, she was an MMA fighter.
