Stupid variations of the trolley problem
« on: August 19, 2019, 02:50:04 am »
1.) An out of control trolley is barreling down the track. If not stopped it will strike and kill King Friday, Lady Elaine, X the Owl, and Daniel Tiger Sr., who are make-believe, however you can pull a switch  that will send it onto a different track where it will bruise the arm of Mr.McFeely, who is real and is leaning on the track. Should you pull the switch?

2.) An out of control trolley is barreling down the track. There is nobody on the track. However, you can pull a switch that will send it onto a different track where Donald Trump and Mike Pence, are standing. Should you pull the switch? What if there was also a homeless person on the track with Trump and Pence? What if there were two homeless people? How many homeless people would have to be added before it became morally wrong to pull the switch?

3.) An out of control trolley is barreling down the tracks. If not stopped it will strije and kill four people. Before that, in exactly one minute, it will come to a switchtrack that can send it to a different track where only one man is standing. There is a button which you can press that will cause the tracks to switch once after half a minute, switch again after a further quarter of a minute, switch again after a further eighth of a minute, again after a further sixteenth of a minute, and so on and so on. Should you press the button.

4.) There is an out of control trolley barreling down the tracks. If not stopped it will run over the entire population of China. However you can pull a switch and send it to a different track where it will only run over the population of two medium sized Japanese cities. Should you pull the switch?

Wasn't McFeely that asshole who took Mr. Rogers' puzzle from him and made him so mad at being rushed that he proceeded to murder a block of clay while singing a song about emotions?

...I think you know my answer :lulz:
There is no reason to,
Be ashamed of poetry. It,
Is natural. But you should,
Still do it in private,
And wash your hands afterward.
