Sorting through my holiday snaps.  Not as many duds as I thought, though I'm probably not going to win any Pulitzers from this stuff.

I assume PD would like to see some?

Yup

First batch up in pics.  Going to split them up by location to avoid one super long pic spam.  Also had to size them down quite a bit...

The Wizard Joseph

I had a meaningful conversation with my landlord about the bedbug problem. As soon as he realized that I and the problem could not be ignored without the state getting involved he hired exterminators and they heat treat the building on Tuesday. He had no idea how bad bedbugs actually are and I politely explained that the situation was only going to get worse and implying that I might file suit without actually saying so.

I'm unbelievably pleased with this outcome. He's still a slum lord but he's at least smart enough and business savvy enough to understand that his whole damn investment in the building was at stake over a $2,500 treatment if he didn't act.

On an even better note the local housing authority has accepted my application and I'm on a waiting list for a high rise apartment so sooner or later I'll be out of here and probably paying less for a much nicer place.

You can't get out backward.  You have to go forward to go back.. better press on! - Willie Wonka, PBUH

Life can be seen as a game with no reset button, no extra lives, and if the power goes out there is no restarting.  If that's all you see life as you are not long for this world, and never will get it.

Awesome, Joe!  Hopefully you don't have to wait long.

Has anyone pointed out that, historically-speaking, no raise in the minimum wage has ever caused inflation?

For what it's worth, I'm very interested in what's going on in Seattle with the min wage increase, from a science perspective. It's a real-world experiment, and I'm trying to be impartial.

I'm not skilled enough to evaluate all the stuff that's been published since 2016 about the results, and I don't live or work in Seattle so I don't know. Things look good, so I'm hopeful that this leads to a further increase in the Tacoma min wage.
