Thanks for the suggestions.  So far all I had was Dan Carlin, Last Podcast on the Left and that weird one with Ed Miliband (whom I unironically like as UK politicians go), so anything with a backlog fills it out nicely.

You might consider Tanis as well then.

It's fiction, it's badly written (there's a formula to every episode and a formula to every season), and my suspension of disbelief levitated out the window for season 4, where Grigori Rasputin who never truly died appeared from nowhere to perform a magic ritual with the main character and then maybe tried to bring about the end of the world out of capitalist greed.

I was very hesitant to just shove that at you, for (I hope) obvious reasons, but if you just need backlog...

Also good for sheer volume: all the non fiction high weirdness shit Aaron Mahnke is connected to (Lore, Cabinet of Curiosities, MAYBE Unobscured: it is much smaller in quantity but has longer runtime and much higher quality writing), the ol classic Welcome to Night Vale, and the fiction podcast Archive 81, which doesn't really find its feet until Season 3, and now I really want season 4.

There's over 100 of us in this meat-suit. You'd think it runs like a ship, but it's more like a hundred and ten angry ghosts having an old-school QuakeWorld tournament, three people desperately trying to make sure the gamers don't go hungry or soil themselves, and the Facilities manager weeping in the corner as the garbage piles high.

Alright, so, I can listen to headphones at work.  This is ideal, because I hate social interaction and it has allowed me to listen to a lot of the audiobooks of The Malazan Books of the Fallen while writing reports.

However...I'm running out of things to listen to.  Fortunately, work allows me to also use Youtube and Spotify.  So, in short, I need podcast suggestions.

Welcome to Nightvale is a great fiction podcast.  Weird little desert town community radio show with a dry sense of humor similar to monty python.

It was announced today that all MySpace media content uploaded before 2016 is GONE. Supposedly due to a "server migration error", some notable internet-spags speculate a cost-dumping scheme to no longer pay hosting for 53 million songs from 14.2 million artists.

There are no backups. There is no requesting to download your data. GONE. Electronic static. Entropy spitting in the face of "The internet means forever" and flicking its balls. Apparently this happened LAST YEAR and it has taken this long for pressure from users to force the truth out.

Think about that a second.  Did you have a MySpace account at one distant time? Did you just forget the password and abandon it?

YOU DON'T ANYMORE

In 2016 all text content (including all wall posts between users) older than a certain date was also deleted "accidentally". This "reboot" caused every musician on the site to have to manually rebuild their communities from (I suppose) old distribution lists.

The internet archivists interviewed by the Loyal Order of Floating Librarions of Mu are PISSED. I mean, these are the guys that recovered GeoCities! And they can do noting. If you've been watching the Magicians tv series, you hve some idea how dangerous a librarian with nothing to loose is.

End of an era. Give me a drink.

Myspace has been popping up here and there on my feed for the last few weeks. I recently tried to log in using my old info (thinking: wouldn't it be great to just migrate back to a 17 year old feed and pick it up where I left off?) and found that none of it worked, despite some copy on the website saying all your old content is still there.

And I already tried shitposting on linkedin... it's just not the same. I once made a fake profile for a surgeon, added a bunch of fake credentials and friended other doctors, then posted status updates about getting fuckin fratboy style plastered every weekend. But literally nothing happened, so it was kind of a wash.

I also enjoyed Ello for a brief moment, because nobody was there except me and Cainad and Roko's Basilisk, saying "No, I will be the last one to post on Ello" (Cainad won when my phone wouldn't update the app and I couldn't log in anymore)

What's left? Friendster? no. Goddamn it.

Diaspora is a neat one, not terribly populated, bbut it is open source, so no ads or monetization.

So I tried to buy car insurance today and found out my driver's license is suspended. I had an accident in November of 2017 and was apparently supposed to go through some sort of right-of-way class or something. I never got any notice that this was necessary. Unless I can find another way to get my license reinstated I'm suspended until 2023 :fnord:

I'll still drive if I have to for work purposes, but every time I drive I risk getting pulled over and hit with a hefty fine. I'm hoping there's a way to resolve this quickly.

There should be some option to apply for an Occupational Limited License. I have to deal with that all the time.

Lately I've been doing day labor jobs on a very temporary basis while I wait for one of the staffing agencies to show me something worth working temp to hire.

I often have to travel a fair distance out of town for the day labor jobs. I live in the downtown area so I'm going to expand my work search to include the local area. I'm doing okay financially for now so I have some breathing room, but the squeeze is on now.

I'm not necessarily afraid to drive for work purposes, I just have to be ready for the possibility of a hefty fine if I get caught. Recreational travel outside the city is now a no-go though. This sucks because my girlfriend lives about 45 minutes outside town, out in the Sticks.

I'll find out what my options are When I visit the DMV tomorrow or maybe Saturday morning. I'm hoping all I have to do is take the class, pay the fees, and get reinstated. I got a pretty good share of tax return money back so I'm not too worried about the fine, but I have to get this resolved as soon as possible.

By god, I saw your avatar and had flashbacks to the drug threads. It was like seeing the moment of my death from outside of my body.

How long have you been lurking anyway???

Fuck, it's 2010-2014 spag reunion this past couple fucking weeks.
