Yes there's online footage of the event as well as a manifesto. I have a copy of the latter but I'm at work. I have not seen the former yet but it has been described as quite horrific and brutal, even by seasoned terrorism scholars (one I know, who has dealt extensively with ISIS, said he felt sick seeing the footage)

How long is the manifesto? If its not a bible it would be interesting to see it.

(Edit: wow, 1st time i get teleported to another subforum feelsweird)

It's 74 pages.  If you PM me an email I can forward it on to you, though I would ask that it not be shared with the public at large (and the same offer, with that caveat, goes for everyone else here I've known long enough to trust).

There are already a few analyses of it online, I think Bellingcat got it mostly right by pointing out that this is a manifesto with shitposting - the shitposting is a trap to mislead and delegitimise the media even further.

I think ill read bellingcat instead, dont want any trouble for no one. brb.

we've had to mute #discord (except for regulars), due to a very dedicated 8chantard who really wants to push buttons today

every time there's something explosive in the news, this cat has to come in under an anon nick and spread chantrash. about once every 2-3 months, he shows up for 15-20 minutes late at night to call "the left" a bunch of hypocrites. He seems to have an unusually large stinkbug up his ass today. ayy

I just read the Bellingcat article Cain suggested, and that unusual level of activity would be because one of his people did it. The murderer was an 8chan user who posted about the act before he committed it.

Which makes me even more certain that user is a potential menace and even more pissed off that two regs in the channel acted like I was being a hysterical child about it when I said we should ban fnords again or mute the channel.

There's over 100 of us in this meat-suit. You'd think it runs like a ship, but it's more like a hundred and ten angry ghosts having an old-school QuakeWorld tournament, three people desperately trying to make sure the gamers don't go hungry or soil themselves, and the Facilities manager weeping in the corner as the garbage piles high.

After reading the Bellingcat article some stuff comes to mind:

-Throughout the day i usually pop into 9gag (an infinite page of memes) and ive been doing so for a long time, like 7 years maybe... it used to actually be funny and informative of current issues, but at some point, like a swarm of hungry locusts descending upon it, the site got taken over and became the nesting grounds for a type of racist/sexist right wing group of incels with no clear affiliations besides being scum...

The interesting thing about this nesting grounds is that they are there not to do politics, they are there "to have fun" and "share memes", but i think its easy to understand that one persons humour is not anothers... the point is that, in that site with so so many users, sexism and racism and right wing logic become normalized...

4chan is more of a ghetto of basement dwellers with a very niche and small population, but the same ideological currents can be seen in a more mainstream website like 9gag - which to me its a type of diagnostic of whats floating around the internet nowadays and what is "normal".

The same ideological currents can be seen everywhere that isn't heavily policed to kill that shit before it takes root.   But 9gag is a decent barometer.

74 pages.  Called "The Great Replacement".  Usual conspiracy bullshit about the Jews out to destroy civilization using brown immigrants.

Hear here the "voice of the people", transcribed directly from the 9gag comment section of a certain post with someone holding a poster saying "Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities. -Voltaire" regarding the shooting:

"fits very well with socialism and communism"

"How come there is never so much attention when a muslim blows himself up or runs people over?"
"media doesnt want to come off as racist"

"and how is one to know what are absurdities and what arent?"

"kinda like <<police out there killing Black People>>. Basicly the concept of the lefts victim mentality."

"Voltaire was an anti-semite"

So in resume, the responses (so far): using the shooting as an excuse to bash socialism/communism; to supposedly denounce a muslim-biased media; to bash the left and the media for black-bias... etc, etc... so nevermind all the dead, this is a perfect opportunity for everyone to promote their own personal right-wing agenda.

Whoops. Second page of posts wasn't showing when I replied.

A friend of mine who is paid to look at this sort of trash described it as "74 pages of Alex Jones and Richard Spencer," and, "Horrifying yet incredibly tedious."

I've noticed that the media has been cagey about what happened at the other mosque where apparently only a few people were shot. I've seen almost no coverage of it.

There is definitely a lot being kept back there. Strong hints that they know there is some sort of connection to the "main" shooting, but the talk about it is all "Muslim man shoots back" and "oh, well, it happened".

My guess, they got evidence of something real scary and are playing it close to the vest to see if they can catch other people involved. Note there's been no "all clear" yet in the area. In fact, the fact that they arrested four people and still didn't say it was safe to go about your day afterward is telling, I think, since you tend to want to reassure people fast after this sort of thing.

That's probably on account of the HUGE STACK OF BODIES down the street a ways.

I gather one person has been released, and the other two are being considered as potential accomplices before the fact.

I'm not as up to date as I would like, so I'm sure you're right. Interesting, though. I assume number 4 is presumed to be active shooter #2? I wonder about the accomplices. I'll need to keep an eye on this.
