I got the Moderna, and my left arm was useless for roughly 38 hours. When they say "your arm will probably be sore" they aren't talking about normal injection soreness. You won't even feel the needle, in fact. You'll feel a cloud of ghostly bees land on you in a half hour -- and then (roughly four hours later) you'll feel your arm's muscles ascend to a higher plane of existence and God start punching you in the shoulder if you move anything above the elbow.

That said, I had lots of energy and was thinking only mildly foggy. That's both upside and downside, though -- I kept on forgetting I only had one arm to use while the other was tucked up against me like a T-rex nubbin, trying to reach for things, and falling over in a wave of pain. Also dropping my laptop from a height of roughly 1.5 to 2 inches, constantly, as muscle memory betrays me.

As these things go, it's the worst vaccine I've ever had and better than literally any illness I can remember having.
"I am that worst of all type of criminal...I cannot bring myself to do what you tell me, because you told me."

There's over 100 of us in this meat-suit. You'd think it runs like a ship, but it's more like a hundred and ten angry ghosts having an old-school QuakeWorld tournament, three people desperately trying to make sure the gamers don't go hungry or soil themselves, and the Facilities manager weeping in the corner as the garbage piles high.

LOL speaking as an over 60 I challenge your claim about governmentally approved fucking off and dying . . . the bastards want us all to die. ALSO my 2 pennorth on Astra Zeneca - I was fine for 5 days and then there were 3 days when I couldn't move and which I can't remember clearly. Still, its gotta be better than Covid. Right?

Well true, though at least they are vaccinating the over 50s. And yeah, I hear there's some nasty after effects, so I've mentally prepared myself for that, when I get injected in two years time.

Yikes.  Our government at least pretends to care, they're just disorganized and condescending.

Are your people trying to improve initial coverage by increasing the inter-dose interval from three weeks to four months, or is that just us?

I'm not entirely certain, truth be told, but I don't think so. A lot of the over 60 crowd have already gotten their second dose, so I'm leaning towards it not being the case, but I couldn't say for certain.

I'm looking forward to all the things I was missing out on with social distancing: the arm wrestling competitions, the kissing people on each cheek european style, and let's not forget the orgies.

Licking random public doorknobs is where it's going to be at.

Management just sent out the email. Masks are no longer universally enforced. But only if you are vaccinated (No Lying ). I'm surrounded by Trumpists, (today, one literally printed off a "Liberal tears" graphic on the printer next to my desk so he can tape it to his new mug) and can guess that a few of them haven't gotten vaccinated. Almost all the masks are gone. More than one person has assumed that I haven't gotten the vaccine yet because I've still got my mask on. I got the J&J almost 2 months ago :lulz: (thank you govt contractor "essential worker" status). I enjoy the look on their faces when I tell them I'm vaxed. I don't get to witness that moment of confusion every day (I clearly don't try hard enough). Call me paranoid, that's fine, I'm gonna wait at least a few weeks to see if infections/ deaths spike back up and see how the different new variants shake out. Let everyone else beta-test the environment. After that, I'll make a decision about whether I feel comfortable shedding my mask.

P.S. I switched to a new department after the masks were enforced. I've not seen the faces of several of these people before today. Some of them are uglier than I'd imagined  :lulz: I imagine some of them will think the same about me.

I guess I should update people.

On Mardi Gras day last February, I overcame the curse that bound me to the Dark Gods of Actuarial Finance, and they released their hold over my soul.  Something about, "Maximizing efficient capacity resources viz reduction of meat-based sentience". Then they handed me a small gold-plated parachute (honestly, it was spray painted metallic yellow) and cast me into the void.

It's been an interesting few months.  Now that I had my soul back, I wasn't going to readily jump back into that occult morass.  I've been volunteering in a kitchen that provides meals for the housebound and infirm (it began back in the 90s as a way to get food to AIDS patients who were too ill to leave the house).  I know I'll eventually have to do something capitalistic, but for now I'm really enjoying simply helping people who need it.  So much so that I'm seriously considering going into non-profit work.

I also laid down some drum tracks for a bar rock kind of band called "American Traditional"... when it gets posted, I'll share a link.

Anyway, that's what's going on with me.

Aw man, you were working the numbers for them and then they made you a number. Working a meals on wheels job sounds incredibly fulfilling and there's got to be a lot of interesting people to meet doing it.

It's been a real challenge to my apparent hidden agism, to be honest.  Most of the volunteers are retirees, and those folx can do some serious food prep work.  I've also been able to lean into my "meditation by way of mise en place" pretty hard.  Three hours of mirepoix prep can change one's brain.

Cramulus

dang dude, you've had that job forever

congrats on the new growth

My second Pfizer is that. God punched me in the arm with the Holy Brass Knucks. I felt like I went sideways into another dimension, tbh.

Guess it's time to hop back on it here @ PD. New Orleans is treating me very well. Nothing like a steady day job yet but odd jobs and a bit of hustling cannabis food and products here and there has kept me doing fairly well though. Of far greater value than any money could be has been the friends and contacts I have made and several object lessons learned. I have A LOT to unpack after about half a year here and will either open or repurpose a thread to do so soon. No real way I can get easily caught up, but I am here reading and posting again for the forseeable future. Very glad to be back and look forward to catching up!

Okay, so recap:

1.  Lex isn't doing money things anymore, which is probably why the money is going sideways.

2.  TWJ is dealing legal drugs to survive, which is absurd and obviously due to #1, and

3.  Cram 2.0
