Quote from: agent compassionWar is a sin.

"So now as I'm leavin'
I'm weary as Hell
The confusion I'm feelin'
Ain't no tongue can tell
The words fill my head
And fall to the floor
If God's on our side
He'll stop the next war."

-Bob Dylan-
just like in a dream
you'll open your mouth to scream
and you won't make a sound

you can't believe your eyes
you can't believe your ears
you can't believe your friends
you can't believe you're here

agent compassion

Jump down the shelters to get away
The boys are cockin' up their guns
Tell us general, is it party time?
If it is can we all come

Don't think that we don't know
Don't think that we're not trying
Don't think we move too slow
It's no use after crying
Saying

It's a mistake, it's a mistake
It's a mistake, it's a mistake

After the laughter as died away
And all the boys have had their fun
No surface noise now, not much to say
They've got the bad guys on the run

Don't try to say you're sorry
Don't say he drew his gun
They've gone and grabbed old Ronnie
He's not the only one saying

It's a mistake, it's a mistake
It's a mistake, it's a mistake

Tell us commander, what do you think?
'Cos we know that you love all that power
Is it on then, are we on the brink?
We wish you'd all throw in the towel

We'll not fade out too soon
Not in this finest hour
Whistle your favourite tune
We'll send a card and flower
Saying

It's a mistake, it's a mistake
It's a mistake, it's a mistake

Quotei just didn't see why you were using lots of dead civilians as an argument since that seems to happen in every war.

That was my point, actually. I thought it was funny that he was using holocaust pictures showing casualties from Germany's end during WWII to illustrate his point when there are so many good examples already from the US of A. Why not just show the Americans who die on a daily basis from the policies of the US?

I mean, I caught the drift, but I thought using that last picture from an old war and fascist government was a bit silly and detracted from the point. It was also making the distinction between American Soil deaths and Overseas deaths, and I don't think that's the biggest concern when it comes to this issue right now because people are still dying either way.

Plus, you just shouldn't place the Canadian Freedom Fighter next to a holocaust picture, because it destroys all of your faith in humanity from both ends and leaves you with no hope for the human race.

Well said Hoshi!

I'm afraid there may be no hope for the Human race.

I don't want to be the one to beam the mothership and tell
them to go ahead and drop the big one, but it looks like
somebody's gonna have to do it.

Bummer

I was just getting used to the local water.

Course.  But not the COOL kind of sin...

1.  It was a very recognizable pic.  EVERYONE knows what it is, and what it represents.

2.  Why would it detract from the point?  It just shows that Alphonse Karr was right.

3.  I believe it is a sin to tell people things will be okay, when you know they are doomed.  There really ISN'T any hope.  10,000 years of history indicate that mankind isn't going to abandon their monkeyness, despite the best efforts of a few actual humans (Gandhi, MLK, Jesus, the founders, etc).

Only slightly off topic, but I don't want to start a new thread.

Kind of a predictable civil libertarian thing, but check out
question #6. Didn't see that one coming, did you?

(BTW, I answered yes to only two questions, but if they weren't
mostly comcerned with recent years, well...)

Well, I am pretty sure there is an FBI file for me.  For an internship I had to get a government ID, complete with being fingerprinted.

#6 really freaks me out the most, WTF?  Almost all Americans have done that and it has nothing to do with anything.  I am glad I quit doing that, no, really.

PS Thanks to the gnome, I got the email, but my browser was being flakey, so I never finished the quiz and forgot about it

East Coast Hustle

oddly enough, my FBI file may have helped me to avoid prison time. they started one on me when I was 19 because they mistakenly thought I was running stolen guns, which probably misdirected their attention enough to keep them from figuring out what I was actually up to.

Some yahoo yelled at me, saying 'GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH', and I thought, "I'm feeling generous today.  Why not BOTH?"

Zurtok Khan

I doubt I have an FBI File...although, who knows?  For all we know they may keep tabs on us here...

And I am quite vocal about the goverment to most people I know, but too lazy to acctually attend anything (mainly because that would mean driving...)

I was once president of an organisation that (we're pretty sure) was once listed as a possible terrorist organisation by some TLA in the US.

I'm hoping they've realised that we were kidding.
