Sounds very much like my estranged marriage.......... yeah, haven't finalized the divorce yet either..... I wonder if that 5 year thing you mentioned applies here in the States, that would be a much easier way to resolve it.

My ex decided to bounce back to Christianity(or put on a good show) and last I heard was dating some "charismatic preacher" in North Hollywood, CA.  :x I don't know who to be more sorry for (she was a manic depressive alcoholic with a penchant towards violence).

Hell of a tale Pix, thanks!

The more I watch the antics of my age group, the more I look forward to hitting 30 myself.  I have this delusion that the DUMB will go away.  My fear is that everyone decides it's the reason to start being "responsilbe parents", and forgets how to have teh fun.

Anyone ever think about how Richter inhabits the same reality as you and just scream and scream and scream, but in a good way?   :lulz:

Sorry Rog, I try and block it out myself.

well my rant put me in a very good mood today.... i was being bitched at about some minor cleaning tasks i missed by the boss' daughter, and she said "you should do it for the satisfaction of a job well done" I replied  "I was running late, I dont get paid after 3, I'm not a charity you know" She was LESS than pleased. I found it hilarious.

I'm of similar mind about it.  I don't have any rabid desire to have children.
Part of me thinks that long term it's a cool idea.  The world is going to be full of rabid monkeys regardless, so some of them may as well share my social / genetic imprint.
On the other hand, I try to seperate this from the stereotypical "waypoints for sucessful human life".  What are kids, house, or idealized job success DOING beyond their role as signs of adulthood?
My answer so far is that they'd keep life busy, and add another complicated problem to things.  If I don't I'd likely look into mentoring / teaching HARDCORE as a way of makign sure whatever skill / insight I develop myself isn't just a stagant dead end in the grant scheme of things.

Don't think of them as children, think of them as a means to inflict yourself on the world for an additional 80 years.

THIS.

And I think that's a healthy way to think of it, Pixie and Richter.  Rushing into having kids for the sake of it is just teh dumb.  I have a whole family full of dumb.

I was 23 when my first came along, and 26 when I was done spawning.  You enjoy 'em more when you're young enough to tolerate them.

I was around the same age.  24 for first, 27 for the last.
