iirc, the new anti-porn crusade from the white house targets any porn
not just "excessive" porn

they are saying you must have a signed release on file from the "model"
saying you have permission to use her picture
even if the picture is hosted on another site and you just link to the image

some websites have shut down rather than test this
(there are links in a thread somewhere)
this website is not wealthy enough to become the test case
let larry flynn do that

I used the word 'theoritically" cause I'm not 100% sure you can be sued for it. But The Mgt has asked us to take down any porn pics. She doesn't ask for a lot in exchange for giving us this place, so I figured "What the hell? I might as well get off my lazy ass and push a button or two for once."

I'm not crazy about censorship, so the link is still there and people can go look as often as their hearts desire.

cause i know a shitload of forums that would have been sued a zillion times over

However, banning hotlinking/porn images in general is probably the best way to go.  People at work etc  At the very least, a fair NSFW warning for those people should be in place.

oh of course, i wasn't arguing for posting NSFW images on this board, i just wondered if it's really illegal for forums to host links to porn images, with 4chan being hosted in the US and all.
