Ok, here's a step by step guide to why Racism is a silly idea.

1) We kill all the blacks

2) We kill all the asians

3) Oh fuck it, skip the phases and kill all non-whites.

Okies that's the first lot dealt with, next!

4) We kill all the Jews

5) We kill all the Muslims

6) We kill all the Pagans

7) We kill anybody left that isn't Christian

Okies now we pick a denomination of Christianity and kill anybody that isn't subscribing to that theology.

Okies, still with us?

9) We kill all the gays

10) Now we kill the retards

11) Next we frag the gypsies

12) Now we get rid of those political types that don't agree with us.

This is fun isn't it kids? Now we have a "Pure" England we move on.

13) We kill the French

14) We kill the Europeans

15) We kill anybody that isn't British

Damn, nobody left to kill and this is REALY fun!

16) We kill anybody that doesn't have blue eyes or blond hair

17) Kill them if they are too tall

You'll never eliminate racism completely, because, lets face it, people look different to other people, and looks influence things.

The BNP thing though, that is worrying. Racism is on the rise, and  I think this boils down to more of the collapse of Multiculturalism than anything else.

It is impossible for people not to be racist when we effectively segregate ourselves by race/religion/whatever. It has reached such a point now that the "Muslim Community" feels threatened from all sides, and the other communities feel that the Muslim Community is threatening them...

How is it possible for racism to die when the boundaries of things like the Muslim Community are still so recognized? Multiculturalism has failed, and I think that this is going to cause a lot more riots, as all the minority communities will feel threatened, and the Muslim community continues to serve as the beating post for the BNP... they will only take so much.

I don't know what kind of difficulty there is in America with racism, so... I can't comment on that, but in England, Racism is turning into a real problem... because nobody can talk about it any more. There is even a Race Hatred bill that makes it /illegal/ to criticize other races/religions... well, if you can't critize, you can't have your misconceptions rebuked...

Ironically, the Race Hatred bill is likely to foster more and more resentment amongst the various communities, until all the hatred and tension that everyone feels for everyone else because of misunderstandings and the like boils over... and then I think we'll get to see some more riots, maybe serious ones...

But eh, since it seems the whole world is trying to kill itself at the moment, I guess we are no worse off than anyone else.

I don't think multiculturalism has failed per se, rather its use has been ambiguous and so fostered misconceptions and misunderstanding.  Besides, I'll only worry when the BNP start to get seats in Parliament.  The British system has one advantage, in that a party needs overwhelming, broad support for the fools to get in.  You have to be popular in lots of places.

Cain makes a prediction: the BNP will start to target the middle class more and play upon its persecution by the Government (which does exist and doesn't help.  They should leave persecution to the general population when it comes to racists).  They will continue to bait Muslims until they get attacked, then make an appeal for calm and make The Fascist Law and Order Pitch, just like Hitler and Mussolini.

I don't know how much we should worry about the BNP though, one of the great things about british politics is its reliability, in that there are many constituencies which will always go to labour/conservative/lib dem.

In order to get any sudden sway, there would need to be huge public support, I'd hope that there would be a kind of... middle-bit, where they get a little representation, but not enough to make a huge difference...

I'd then hope that when people realize what is happening, they actually get off their asses and vote. But... maybe not... the BNP is no more a threat to democracy than the current government, they are just a lot more open about it.
