Principia Discussion / Steve Jackson Games 4th Edition
December 26, 2012, 03:12:45 PM
Does the Steve Jackson games edition of the PD contain the 17-page text of the 1965 "How the West Was Lost" edition of the PD? I cannot find a copy of it online (which I will correct as soon as I can find a library that has it) and would like to know.

That is to say, I hope he *made* money in it. Along those lines though, does any have a pdf of the 3rd edition that is readable? The only one that seems to be circulating is all pixelated and impossible to read...

Now, does any know how the 4th edition made it to Rip-Off Press or Loompanics? It seems like a huge jump from its previous incarnation as a zine and/or pamphlet. I hope Hill make some $ from it...but it was copylefted

Principia Discussion / Re: List of Discordian books
October 18, 2012, 11:30:04 AM
Even though Peter Lamborn Wilson/Hakim Bey does not come out and say it, though he does come close on a few occasions, I have always considered him to be the second primary "thealogian," or "atheologian," or Discordianism thinker (Thornley and Hill aside). Of course RAW is the other for this period... you know, the pre-internet boom of Discordian texts. He did a few lecture tours with RAW, published reviews of his work (and vice versa), and wrote him a lovely obit in 5th Estate. [http://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/peter-lamborn-wilson-liquor-and-weed-for-him-were-bardic-fuel-peter-lamborn-wilson-s-obituary-f]

The early 1961-1964 Discordian documents stress the importance of non-canonical Discordian works and authors, who they dub "Compilers of Truth-Lay". It seems to me that TAZ, like so many other works (esp. Terry Southern's The Magic Christian) are rightfully placed on Discordian sites as Discordian in nature.

ya dig?

I dunno, but is there more to the passage after the colon?  Perhaps more context would help solve the puzzle.

Yeah, there is... and reading it again I have found another lead. The Good Rev. Bull Goose of Limbo signs off

This suggests that it could mean "Discordian Title"... In fact, I believe this is the answer. Thanks everyone for helping me figure this out!

Ah ha! While I can read, I certainly do not like to. But when I do, I don't do it well.

On page 45 there is the answer to one of my questions:

DISCORDIANISM ACCORDING TO MALACLYPSE (THE YOUNGER)

   THE DISORGANIZATION TABLE ("TD")

now... the other one...DT (which may also need to be reversed)...

Pages 36-38 in the Appendix Discordia contain a document entitled "DISCORDIANISM ACCORDING TO MALACLYPSE (THE YOUNGER)", which is most interesting. One reason for this is that it looks to me to be the closest thing we have in regards to the contents of Hill's "How the West Was Lost" printed in 1961, which I reckon is the oldest Discordian text there is. I could be wrong about that tho. (I do know that it predates the Honest Book of Truth, which may never have been finished or even written).

A question about its contents: on page 38 under Lord Omar's section is the following paragraph:

Lately, there has been some delightful confusion within the
Society about the TD and DT.  In "order" to clear this up, and
make way for fresh chaos (which is how we rationalize this sort
of operation), I should like to now timidly propose some (5) basic
guidelines-in-the-public-interest for the general welfare of Our
Society:

What the flip does "TD" and "DT" stand for?

also, hello everyone, this is my fnord first post
