Title: poem fragments I don't know what else to do with
Post by: The Wizard Joseph on March 18, 2015, 03:05:51 pm
If I didn't respect you,
I would not correct you,
I would just leave you,
To stay on you knees,
Down in your own derp.

Oh hell what now?
Want me to bow,
 and lick the boot,
or else you'll shoot?
Shoot then, fuck you!
Rather eat a bullet
than bow to you,
bully.

And thou will hang upon the tree may as well hang comfortably.
Heed your pain. Eris is not to be snubbed.

It's far too late
I await sure fate
Everyone has a date
No news is good

This one's a song, but I'm not sure I'm done polishing it.

WHATEVER MEANS

I cannot cure
The racing heart
It never stops
Until the finish

Please reserve me
Room inside your
Coiled up mind
Distress to unwind

(Chorus)

I'm not magic
But I create
I conjure words
Fitting just correct

I would relieve
Your gnawing pain
Bring you gain
By whatever means
(Chorus)

Don't look inside you now,
because baby I'm not there
Don't be afraid of the better days
Or the costs
they will be paid anyway.
By whatever means
By whatever means
By whatever means

Hey Joseph, have you settled on a default Kopyleft/CC/Copyright setting for your writing on the site?

Hey Joseph, have you settled on a default Kopyleft/CC/Copyright setting for your writing on the site?

I reserve all my rights, but have no ability or interest in defending them.

I believe I already gave you specific permission to work with my stuff subject to showing me and and a veto before publication I really never expect to need to use.
You're the only one to ask, and I count it a compliment. Go on and work with whatever you like!

Some of my unpublished stories are unpublished because I'm not sure I want to risk letting them out yet. I remember seeing that somebody published omnibuses of PD materials without permission.

This one came to me in 2013 while chatting on FB. Also a song, but  figure it's complete.

/ Half a Fnord.

Chorus

So
I agree
Duality
Can be a big snare
Yet
Unity
It seems to me
Is not really there

see
All here is
plurality
Tied up in a thread
And
Seems to me
Disunity
The play that I read

Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like a false view
To see in unity a haven to go back to
Accept difference and strive for collectives
Adapt or die but spare God your invectives

 CHorus*

I can't really swear but I have an inkling
That I'm not alone in quietly thinking
The folks at the top can't get to the bottom
Of the steel riddle that's totally go 'em

Chorus*

One more verse and I'll get to bed
And ReSet the heavens and hells in my head
No archon can hold you; I've just told you
Nor man ever say where the wind's gonna step to

Chorus*

Bit of a rant fragment.

But he's safer right?

We spend trillions on this stuff so it has to work right?

At least our homeless folks are safer and more free than any other nation's right?

I mean there's no better way to spend our nation's wealth than on things that will rain sudden firey horror on all who would threaten our peaceful and prosperous national interests or seek to put an end to our amazing social order right?

Clearly we the people have everything under a total and fine tuned Control because utterly nothing happens in our nation or it's spheres of influence that we don't have absolutely comprehensive, unanimous understanding of that has been the result of our transparency of government, freedom of information, enlightened economic structures, boundless work ethic, ease of discourse, and diligent citizens...
Right?

There is no Disco
Only fools.

Their genes may come from
Shallow pools

They're full of themselves
Head in ass

They just don't get it
End of class

Posted to DS2015 some time ago. Included link to video that inspired this bit of poem.

Words of fallen stars
Beat back the darkness
In the backmask

Hear the new
Word coming
Through the beat

Feel the terrible
Joy as line by line
A new story goes
On as foot by foot
We make our stanza

And far from the last

No enemies
Anywhere
Only friends
Everywhere

We can go there
But don't go there
Sadly

Then and only then
Will the ignorant tyranny
Justly and finally end

-T. W. Joseph

Is not silence sometimes a sin?
Really when does one begin
to betray
by Way of
not saying
Anything?

Is it even ok to ponder the line?
Could it be alright to entwine
with my words
all that I
may incline;
Who Am I?

Nobody,
Really.

I'm wondering if it's soon time to crack.
If not aught else but a GRIN! :)

You know, theoretically you could always jam these fragments together into a single song. That's how John Lennon wrote I am the Walrus.

Or, don't, because they stand pretty well as individual poems.

Thanks! Some really are just more like structured fragments of thought than actual poems, but I consider several of them complete. Others I might yet expand on. Poems are something that I do, or perhaps poems happen to me, but I'm no poet.

Yeah, but they're very different thoughts. I'm much more inclined to sing than to write. Some folks consider me a damn good singer. I don't get out much lately, but a good jam session or karaoke and a bit of booze is better than church to me. Music reminds me of something, sparks a nameless nostalgia for a place I don't recall ever being. Then I get back to work.

Naw, that does make you a poet, especially if poems happen to you and feel you need to keep them.

Huh. I'll accept your definition. I didn't used to feel the need to keep them, but things changed. When I was much younger I used to write them as a way to vent profoundly negative emotions and then would burn them. I literally had no desire to keep the work, it was often QUITE hateful, and the destruction did help considerably.

For me it was not entirely dissimilar to prayer. Something like telling God off or voicing dissent I had no ability to act on and that was just between me and God anyway. I ended the practice one day and that was pretty much that with a few exceptions not intentionally destroyed, but also not exactly cherished or kept and now lost.

Then it just started happening sometime late in 2013 again, but I don't know what exactly triggered it nor the desire to keep them. Having a smartphone for the first time and ability to jot things down at will was a definite factor, but not the cause I think. The muse, whatever it is in me, seems fickle, and I'm not exactly into the mindset, practice, or self image of "poet". I'll just keep doing what I've been doing, waiting and writing as the urge and opportunity coincide.

Then there's THIS one (http://www.principiadiscordia.com/forum/index.php?topic=37141.0).

It's writing has been a whole different creature from these here ITT. The urge and thoughts never quite seem to leave me, but I'm more than just a bit hesitant and very stubborn about it. I'll inevitably return to the writing of the poetry, but I'm not sure when I'll be ready. I'm not even sure why I don't "feel ready".

Goodbye Brother

I love you as I hate you
and I never want to kill you
brother
even as
we say

there cannot be another

and here we are again
and here we are again

There's air and blood between us
only

never shall we close again
never shall we close again
never your back will I again defend
trust I shall keep well my own

for there's blood and air between us
only

And both have drawn far too thin

Today was my worst day in a very very long time. Last night one of my best in equal measure. For Love only do I go On. :noemote:

A Poem Onistly Writ Adhoc

An so I've become
My poetry
A war-worn
Man of the Road

And no One ever
Told me to be
Given to WizArdry
I just grew up, left home.

In spirit
finally,
though not quite
oft enough
already
In body

Now I have the time
Now I have the slack
Now I have the sand
Now I have the games

Now I have the storm

It follows me.

See it behind me and despair,
as I would do,
were I not merely first
to see it coming.

Fight me not.
Run. Fast!

And in need of Striving

Yet from form imperfection
From imperfect form value
From imperfect will variety

Dear Harley
Great High
And Pretty
Gnarly One

I can hardly
Contain myself
Though I'm tryna
Restrain myself

It's not so great
For my mental health

How badly I'd like to be
Your personal elf on a shelf
Your essence of Gelfling hook up

Maybe the cause could be
That you're a pretty giddy gitty playa
Such a Gorgeous Catastrophe
Sweet enough to kill a diabetic
When you're not bein' hellishly spicy
I'm damn sure that you get me

Just for that you're 1 in a million
Finding another like Harley is
Very unlikely

Even if you set me up
I'd still go down for you
A wet dream coming so true
Till I hear that voice crack,
Cuz it was your mind that I blew

But don't take this as
Some clumsy come on
We both have lives to work on
Most of the time, and you know
Exactly how far gone I am
It ain't like that

Just writing a poem
Tipping my hat
And sayin'

One day
I'll make it rain
so
damn
hard for you
Harley.

There is nothing new under the sun
All things are chasing after the wind
Look up, smile with the inconstant moon
All too soon the season will turn again
And Eternity ask It's question:
"Did you enjoy what was made for you?"

I place will under Love by choice.
See what I did there? ;)

Now I could have sworn I said "continue scrolling".

Shall we carry On?

I hate to say it, but the "filters" you willfully choose are still works of the highest illusion upon yourself, and if, as is so very easy, you "forget that you put them on" they become delusion.

Still... knowing yourself to be a fool IS vastly superior.
"As day is superior to night", to quote a very wise fool.

Not knowing you're a fool is
treacherous night

Knowing that you are a fool,
upsetting dawn

Accepting your own follies,
steps out of bed

Absorbing needed wisdom,
a thin first gruel

Seeing that you're still a fool,
good strong coffee

Accepting that fact with grace,
the morning shit

Choices made that suit that fool,
now clean and dressed

Now the sad part is how many folks glimpse the dawn and roll over to dream of waking all day long.

We're the sleepless, shaky scribes
whose rogue jots and
tiddles utterly riddled
the pages of the Torah.

Rogue Greeks and math geeks
shrieking DODECAHEDRON!!
at the top of their lungs
as they bid the cult goodbye.

Masters of astronomy
thinking "That can't be!"
while being tried for blasphemy
and not once recanting their counting

Orators and oracles
Who with breath, tongue and lips
to the ears of the mob slip
far too many a terrible parable

The quiet ones
in back of the bus
making no particular fuss
seeing more TRUTH
on their screen
than They ever did
mean for you to

God is Love.

I don't love you.

I think you're talented Dane, but I just don't think you've got the grit to quit. It's a shameful pity really.
Don't know why you can't stop?
Don't respect yourself and others?
Unconcerned about the damage you WILL do?

Please keep up the douchey half ass cry for help (oh I mean help me drink LOLJK) shit.

OR you can be responsible. ..  HaHa! O that's a good one!

You think I like having to use this greasy guido to a message through? I cant stand him, and his whole family is just... upsetting.

You know maybe I was a little harsh there Dane. I have a bit of a drinking problem too.
I know how it is.

You get to thinking you're just fine and it might just be alright. Then you get to thinking about your Daddy issues and what a shithole existence is and how much better than that you are and BAM. Just another empty vessel and a hangover.

I want you to know I'm here for you Dane.
To watch you go that is.
Can't wait for the DTs to get so bad you can't even play without it.
Then your looks go as you liver slows down and the toxins build.
Good times! Can't wait.

The attached image has a poetic and quite nifty perspective on the Greek gods and perspective on how they do these days. Someone shared it on FB and I noted that Eris got snubbed YET AGAIN and felt compelled to write a short piece. Here is that, but read the image first for maxim effect. It should properly be at the bottom of this other person's series in retort.

Eris watches as a million little windows on hundreds of screens all feed her tiny tidbits of the human drama, great and petty. It's the drama of her own family and she knows this well. She sips a very dry, dark wine laced with the very latest consciousness expanding chemicals. Soon her name will be known again in her rightful glory as theirs are, but for now she waits in the shadows with a million eyes reflected in her own and a GRIN sharp enough to cut diamonds.

Each a separate force you see

can only be temporarily relied upon
So within the three a fourth must be

Here and now

slaughtered by a dream
Here and now

Rampant and obscene
Here and now

Here and now

Here and now

mad by demons sent
Here and now

Here and now

Here and now

and a certain wolfish she.

Though at this time
I make no promises
Smart young Wizard
That I be, you have
from me this guarantee
It is not power or words
that bind, but trust in kind
And so any trust
I earn from thee
As you shall see
Shall multiply in me
And return a rich
dividend indeed.
And so on basis
of this bonded trust
We shall proceed
For one worthy
of such rare things
is precious indeed

Pop magic
thriller night
no such thing
as black and white

If you must cut
then cut deeply
the only rule
don't sell out cheaply

Applied to magic
all morality
is rather tragic
it is what it be

Fnord?

My Lord!

Whatever does it mean?

Is it obscene?

Unclean?

Something mean?

A vulgarity?

Some hilarity?

Or a blessing
from the skies
In disguise?

Opinions vary.

And nary a wit
Hath writ
A fnord,

And lived
Long enough
To explain.

I and you,
embers living for hours
The slow lick,
fiery tongue on hot coal
No flame this,
warm sweetness and shadow
Slow moments,
crawling as wood meets its match
Completeness,
a burning without concern of loss
Now timeless,
you and I burn eternal as we part

It's always war crimes. It's always civilian slaughter. They think this makes them powerful, and they're RIGHT, but it's a temporary and false power for cowards and thieves. It's fragile. It corrodes the soul.

There IS a Greater Power by many Names. The most fitting of these is Love. Another is Justice. Yet another Peace. These Names will endure long after the evils of these days have no more to slaughter for, nor power to do so anyway. One day, sooner than some may think, this True and Holy Power will be the only power remaining on this blessed Earth.

Until then fight to survive.
Fight for your lives.
Fight for your Love.
Fight for that Peace
For it has surely arrived.

*sea shanty tune to small accordion*

I once had a little matey
Named Pango he was
He look'd like he was 80
And he never wore 'draws

Well one day in a stupor
He did climb the maaaast
And dropped a giant pooper
Screamin' FREEDOM AT LAST

So I swabbed poo off the poop deck
Soon old Pango came down
'An he asked me real cryptic
"Just why is it sir ye frown?"

Well I was in a foul fury, I pulled me gun
But old Pango he drew on me first
I had mere bullets, 'e made more poo son
That old Pango was the worst

One little seed
In the soil
With some toil
A little pain
Some good Fortune
A bit of rain
Will one fine day
Become a tree
Fine to see
And fit for both
Fruit and shade

Thanks! Your comment prompted me to go back over the thread in the mindset that it was not my work and I'm a little suprised by myself. I haven't gone through the whole thread word for word since I started it I think. I certainly will keep adding to the pile as it goes!

Which means nothing,
And is moot.

But a pie in the face
Is always a hoot!

Made as a result of the open mic with Q. G. The first line was my prompt.

The Gods Are Wrong
So pass that bong
And a tale fit for mortals
I will tell ye

It's not their words
That ring absurd
Nor their lack of morals
That do rile me

See they are us
Despite the fuss
And insistence of priests
So unseemly

Since they are we
Writ abstractly
Our folly does not cease
Predictably

So wrong they are
At least as far
As mortal tales can tell
Reliably

We're more a far
Bright bardic star
With a wild dream to sell
Rather cheaply

My what a strong
Hit from that bong
Got me talking of gods
Dangerously

If I'm not wrong
Priests are along
Heretics live long odds
Quite discreetly

There is no grander thing
Than a Wizard with a beard
It's the Wizard sans beard
That looks weird

And should rightly be feared

You see the beard is a warning
As much as anything
I lets you know who
You are dealing with

But with facial hair all cleared
People may well make a mistake
And to a Wizard your mistake
Is a gift of great value indeed

You see mistakes
are how Wizards
Succeed

See with a beard some fools
Will assume
That everything you do
Is meant

And so if the Wizard
Should do something
Stupid

A smat one will
See that it is
Stupid

And knowing
The Wizard is "wise"
Fear and fail to capitalize
Something no fool
Enemy of a Wizard
can likely afford

But with no beard you see
A Wizard looks just like
You and me

It's uncanny
And something of
A double whammy

If you do not expect
Should you fail
To detect
The Wizard

My friend you are in for a ride
For you may expect him to be
Stupid

And he can act
Or sometimes be
Stupid

But cause more damage
Than the fell arrows of
Cupid

And you will have no idea
That the Wizard
Even did anything

Hey there NOLA!
How you doing girl?
Thanks for taking me in
When all this Wizard
Had left to him was
My backpack
My rolling luggage bag
My beard
My walking staff
A train ticket
And a GRIN.

I gotta say
You're far fairer
In person
Oh NOLA
Than even your
Fine ass pictures
Ever even could tell!

This year left me
all kinda busted up!
But thanks to you,
Sweet NOLA,
I am doing ok,
and one day
I hope
Extremely well!

I landed on day one
In the neighborhood
Of good Saint Roch,
And the Capo Santo
Holy Cemetery
Of the Patron of Plagues
In the age of COVID
Just a little ways
On down the block

A very kindhearted landlord
Was there and took me in
On a cash for weekly basis
I was prepared
To sleep in your streets
But thank The Great One
I found so many friendly faces!

You have been so
Very good to me NOLA
That I want to kiss you.
But I really shouldn't
Because you're a city
And I'm a Wizard true
And so NOLA as you bless me
I shall WORK HARD AS IRON
To be a blessing
Ultimately to you

You dig me girl?

My body, my soul even
Got hard ravaged
By a horrible
Industrial grade
Poison this year
Before that little punk
Called COVID
Even really hit the scene

But I want you to know NOLA
That I AM NOT DEAD YET!!!
If I must die
And I well may
There is no other place to die
That I would rather have been!

My body got wracked
And my rep wrecked
And pockets empited
By bastards operating
In my original home state
Old Wisconsin

But Louisiana
And specifically
You my good NOLA
Is where I hope
To either heal up
Or die forgiven
By the Good Lord
For my sin

My very first piece
Of delicious King Cake
Held a little baby
And I was told
That means blessings
For a whole year!

And though I gotta buy
The next King Cake
I was GRIN'n ear to ear
Knowing that I need not fear.

Thanks for having my back NOLA.
You're the world to me!
This is gonna be good.
But a Wizard's gotta eat.
I could use a few bucks to get set up,
If you could.

Thanks
NOLA.
You
Are
Indisputably
The
Very
Best!

Sincerely
T. W. Joseph

Great Lord Ogun
He of Iron and Forge

Of both metal
And
Strong hearts

A working King
Against The Darkness
And it horrible hordes

You have a worthy servant
Named Ayobami Hamzat

But you already
Of course
Know that well

I just thought
I would tell you
Where my heart is at

I do not do my Works
In your great Name
And though I owe
To you no fealty

To a King
I respectfully
Bow just the same

I serve The Great One
As do all who know Love

And in this poem
I dedicate a place
For you Ogun
In my humble abode
Up Above

With great thanks
Sincerely

To the tune of "how do you solve a problem like Mariah?" From the sound of music

*ahem*
How do you solve a problem like the NAZIs?
Grab a big cinder block and beat them down.
What if there are no blocks to beat the NAZIs?
You go to the store, or use whatever's around.

Many a person wants to beat some NAZIs.
Many a person wants a piece so bad.
But they just won't make your day, inevitably run away.
Cowardly dogs that dare not take a stand!

Oh how do you solve a problem like the NAZIs?
Maybe it's best to shoot them out of hand.

*writers note FB apparently no longer carries the von Trap ripping NAZI flag gif. Very telling methinks. Let's see if FB scolds me for this reply.*

But by words and will I might
Possibly open up new Doors
Though it's you stepping
On through them

And I ever do it for free
But there is no guarantee
I offer only some expansion
Of better possibility

Guess we shall see!

So tired of being,
And of Seeing,
The inexplicable.

I do try to go on,
But can't for long,
It's damn predictable.

Companions along my Way,
Sad indeed to say,
Oft prove despicable

That I am no better,
In unkind weather,
A Truth inextricable.

Where it is that I shall go,
Not even I can know,
Futures unselectable.

I know that I am done,
A wizard on the run,
And unelectable.

Far too weary for words,
In fit company among turds,
On a path seemingly regrettable.

But sweet Eris as my judge,
I AM NOT DEAD YET!!
