When the sky grows dark with angry Aztec gods and obsidian snakes head North out of Sonora and we gotta put the blood of boogaloo boys over our door lintels to get passed over and the ghost of John Dillinger isn't giving out autographs and

The cult of the Black Madonna is out shanking gallegos and lawyers are shoving fiendish contracts under your door because IT'S DUE and the equestrian statue of Father Kino gets off its plinth and starts trampling people and

and and and the X-day saucers finally arrive.  If you've gotten right with "Bob", you get a seat.  If not, you go to normal (boring) hell.

Today:

Me:  "Okay, so I can get that sick new PLC software now, right?"

Dan:  "Sorry, there is no money."

Me:  "WTF?  I just recovered $780K AND saved us $1.5 million in moving costs."

Dan:  "Moving costs?  I know nothing of these 'moving costs'."

Me:  "Oh, you son of a bitch.  It's a lousy $9K."

Dan:  "9K is a lot of money."

Me:  "9K doesn't even show up on my budget."

Dan:  "See?  There is no $9K."

Me:  *incoherent screaming*.

Dan:  "This is all normal, Hamish."

Discordianism and the COTSG are not things that any human being can do forever.  You get in, you get what you need, and then you leave.

Chaos is not sustainable.  It's just a lot of fun as a short term thing.

Noted. In the meantime I hope it's alright with everyone that I practice "existing" again till I develop the motivation and fortitude to find other places to do more than just lurk. I'll try to shine up some rants or other writings to drop here when things get slow, and try to improve my conversational skills so its worth interacting.

The Great Seriousness... now there's a term I've gotta throw in the forum search bar. Probably something there that might keep me occupied for an hour or two.
A lot of grayfaced infighting that resulted in eris "rewarding" us with four years of the Maga Khan.

Just when I thought I'd heard all the nicknames. Maga Khan  :lulz: Brilliant. I'll try to keep my own gravefaced nature in check. I don't think I would want yet another Great Seriousness (no idea if there's been more than one) or worse.

All of our previous infighting was funny.

I'm looking for a piece of Subgenius writing which encouraged people to burn a twenty dollar bill. Something about it being a form of Subgenius initiation  .. to experience the resistance to the destruction of your own slack, to feel the slack burn away into the air. Sound familiar to any of you naked old losers?

Nope.  You're supposed to send your $$$ to "Bob".  Everything else leaves you unclean

So, today I bought the old building back from the potheads and sold them the new building, with a 10% positive difference, and neither one of us has to pay municipal taxes for two years, because we are both *technically* moving a business into the city (both businesses are changing zip codes).

I shouldn't be proud of this sort of shit, but I am actually proud of this shit.

Even pissing into the wind empties your bladder.

NICE.

Isolation is self-reinforcing.  The less you have to do with people, the less you WILL have to do with people.

The thing about religion, same as politics, is that it narrows your crowd down, because making friends outside of the crowd is frowned upon.  So if you leave the religion, you're going to have this massive vacuum in your life.  The obvious solution is to fill that vacuum, and the best way to do THAT is to find something new, something you've never done, and get involved in it.  Then find something else to get into before the "new" wears off of whatever it was that you chose.

When my father retired, he suddenly had this huge chunk of his life that was "empty".  He's a biochemist and kind of (literally) wrote the book on microprocessor controls, so he decided to get into metalworking and rockhounding, and found two huge groups of people that he never knew existed, and he's learned things he never would have even heard about if he'd just tried to cling to the community that he had worked in.

After The Great Seriousness, I eventually walked away from Discordianism and started hanging out with Trekkies and learned that there was a whole new level of bickering that I had never been exposed to.  :lulz:

So the thing here is mostly getting off of your ass and breaking the rut you're in.

I've been blaming Cram for it

So have I.  Even though I didn't run into him until 2006.  I just knew that some awful malevolent intelligence, cool and unsympathetic, was looking at my hair and making its plans.

I have some stuff I've been meaning to say on this (and the previous Hey Louie), but I've been having a REALLY FUCKIN BAD TIME and right now I'm drunk and about two days behind catching up on the forum, so I don't want to stick my ass all over things just yet.

Just have the urge to point out that if it weren't for organizations like Faust and Howl are talking about, I wouldn't be homeless as long as I have, so I would like to sign on to this whole Hey Louie, if that's a fucking thing (and if it isn't, Dok, I'll leave the white-out at the end of the post).

Parasitic "activist" organizations are so effective at destroying actual action that if I didn't know better, I'd say they were The Machine fighting back. But I'm not that deluded yet.

Hey Louie is generic.  It's just to bitch about things in the form of a letter.

Just went back to read your "A Letter to the morally pure" since that is what you were referencing. https://www.principiadiscordia.com/forum/index.php/topic,38847.msg1435214.html#msg1435214

I think a lot of that is what goes on in the back of my head, one of the reasons I've almost entirely lurked online for the last decade and rarely, if ever, speak up. It seems like a lot of damned if you do damned if you don't loop. Over the last year I've started to entertain the idea of abandoning the concepts of salvation and the possibility that I could be a good person. I've made less progress in this than I'd like.

good is dumb.

Wrap your brain around that one.  Marginalized people are the people suffering (present tense) FIRST as the climate takes a shit.  But that wasn't the motivation for the committee, apparently.

Then they got all mad when Joe wouldn't head back to the lab to try again.

In this scenario, Joe is the prince and the swallow, and the committee is the mayor and his cronies.  "The new statue should be me."

Even reading about this second hand is tedious and frustrating, and makes me less interested in what they are trying to raise awareness of.
I work with 200MW of systems that can be optimised for carbon minimisation, its literally part of the job to align myself with their cause and I would go out of my way to avoid discourse with them after reading that.

It's all about the cause.  The cause, of course, being the committee members jockeying for The Biggest Savior position.

Poor Joe was used to hanging around with a better class of garbage, and didn't see it coming.  He was honestly shocked...Not that they'd refused the artwork, but that urgency would somehow exclude marginalized people.  It was so dismally stupid that he left the situation entirely.

The group was 350PDX in Portland, so I am a little puzzled that he was so shocked.

4. Roger's nipples now have four different textures of hair. That's course, curly, fine, and something we've been calling "Kramer"

This has been true since 1989 and I fail to see how anyone can be blamed for it.  Especially me.
