Post by: Akara on February 09, 2009, 07:42:32 PM
ingredients:

Blender
coconut milk (i use canned, comes out well)
frozen raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, peaches, mangoes or a combination (with the coconut milk, I actually like raspberries and/or mangoes the best)
honey

sometimes I use yogurt instead of coconut milk. occasionally I make yogurt lassi:

a bit of lime juice
a few pinches of cumin powder
yogurt
a bit of salt

How does the consistency come out /  what proportions do you use?

I'm feeling an anhedonic / apathetic spell coming on, and things that are nutritious and drinkable are good to have queued up.  I don't want to regress to chocolate milk and vitamins for 2 out of 3 meals again...

for the coconut ones, I use 1 can of coconut milk (I think that's a 14 oz can? it's bought at walmart) and about a third a pound of fruit, more if I want it thicker. the consistency I get is thin enough to drink from a wide straw, but thick enough to be able to eat with a spoon well (not completely liquefied). The yogurt ones are about the same consistency, depending on the yogurt. also same proportions. sometimes I add cream or milk to the yogurt ones if they get too thick for my blender. I rarely use fresh fruit, because a) fresh fruit gets eaten too quickly around my house, and b) it doesn't give that nice thick consistency.

the lassi is pretty easy too. put about 1-2 teaspoons of lime juice, and spices to taste in about 14-16 oz of yogurt. YUM
