So my effort to produce regular content that means something substantial to me is akin to tweeting.

That makes me so angry right now.

As does a "how's the fucking weather thread" in OKM.

And why are you angry?  You didn't start this thread...did you?

Or, more likely, it's a three-day weekend with Valentine's Day right in the middle, and people are off somewhere fucking in a hot tub.

I mean, I could post less fluff and "bloggy" type stuff, but the end result would be that I'd shift more of my posting elsewhere, and I would stop feeling as connected and attached to the people here, and more connected to wherever else I was posting my "bloggy" stuff, and then I wouldn't really have any context or motivation to post content here so I wouldn't.

That's kind of the way it works for most people, I've noticed. Almost no one pops on here once a week with a really well-written piece. Instead, it's the people who post all the damn time about the shithead they share an office with or who they're dating or what they did with their friends over the weekend who ALSO write the posts with content. Partly because they write all the time, compulsively, so some of it turns out to be good, and partly because they're emotionally invested in the board.

Wasn't bitching about you, Nigel, and I apologize if it looked that way.

It's not the fluff, we've always had that, and it's fun sometimes.  It's the fact that that's all we have.  In every forum.  We have a thread for everything you can jam into or out of an orifice, why we're happy, why we're sad, what's pissing us off, what the weather is (in OKM, no less, thanks a pile, EOC), how many pounds of stool we have in our guts, and, of course, 6 tarot threads and 32 "ask me anything" threads.

After the last half year, that's a fucking heartbreaker.  I feel like I'm at TCC.

Not the fluff.  The lack of anything else.

I'm complaining because for the first time in weeks I was able to get on from a real computer and I wasn't sure where I was.  I couldn't decide if it was MW or Facebook.

When the fluff is good news it tends to bring people in, even if its not all that compelling, when there's nothing but bitching all over the forum and gloom in here then people don't feel the need to post.

Perhaps. This thread is making me specifically think of Kurys thread in or kill me for some reason.

It's not just one or two people, or one or two threads.  It's endemic.  2 months ago, we were in the most creative period we've ever had, and then it ended overnight.

The one I made was an effort to organize the flurry of ideas that were getting thrown out to build something cohesive. 

Well, we needed more, and Yatto delivered.

We don't have any in OKM or OMF.  Someone should post one.

I've been trying to pump my rant gland once a week, spilling the contents here or as a letter in Apple Talk.  Missed this one. Something cooking though.

Our clubs and raves are inhabited strictly by zombies.  All fucked up on bad drugs, they shuffle back and forth under the impression that they're dancing, and they think they're there to hook up.

It's not their fault they can't dance, Dok, have you heard the music they listen to?

Yikes, we don't have it that bad here yet. Very few overdoses each year of illegal substances.

No, they aren't.  E will either kill you or it won't.  Meth will drag you through hell, then kill you.  For certain.

Unmixed MDMA, at normal recreational doses, has a minimal chance of a possible (unconfirmed) freak reaction that could lead to death. It's pretty incredibly unlikely. It is definitely reactive and potentially dangerous when combined with other drugs, and people who are taking antidepressants should never take it.

Oh, sure.  But what happens around here is you get some swill that got made in a trailer park on the Southwest side, with amazing inconsistencies in what dose you're actually taking, as opposed to what you think you're taking.

Then people take it, and drink a bunch.  The results speak for themselves.

We have an area like that, called "Felony Flats". Also another one that is called "Seaside". Full of zombies.

The parents in Oro Valley shrug and say it's a shame...they think this are the "inner city kids" that are wrecking themselves in this way.  That's of course ridiculous, as the only kids that can afford to demolish themselves in this fashion are THEIR kids, which they might realize if they ever spent any fucking time with them.  But they don't, so the kids go out 2 or 3 times a week to have "fun" killing themselves, and doing what they think is dancing.
