Quote from: CAPTAIN USA on February 22, 2010, 04:37:13 AMI wanted to go with Half-Orc, but I remember you posting that only the beta version was acceptable

I didn't catch that (although I have read through the bulk of this thread point).  I was planning to play a half orc myself but if it's problematic i will happily change to a human.

Also, I'm hoping to play a monk in this game if that's acceptable.  I think that will be a good way to balance out the party right?  Who all is still playing which classes, anyway?

Awesome!  I'm excited, and currently reading through this whole thread right now.

I'm very glad that we aren't playing 4th ed.  God, the new rules suck so much, it's like they institutionalized power gaming. :horrormirth:

Hey are you guys still accepting party members?  I'd sure like to play!  I'm happy to take whatever class would be good to balance out the party, sounds like a paladin might do the trick.

Don't forget that being devoured by bears is the only proper punishment for little children who make fun of the prophet Elisha.  Prophets are serious business!

That's hardly the most ridiculous thing that YHVH has ever done. I'd say the whole impregnating a married virgin with his supernatural sperm takes the cake.

:lulz:  Yeah that was a bizarre episode.

The Lot story is in line with what I know about ancient values, though.  Similar to the Greek concept of xenia, duty to your guest was paramount.  It's the same reason why Zeus came down hard on Troy because Paris seduced Helen while he was a guest of the Spartans (although it's the inverse I suppose).  I suppose to moral of the story, in a way that completely escapes modern sensibilities, is that you owe a greater duty to male travelers that you welcome into your home than your own daughters.

I'm not treating that one-page PDF as issue 9

Yeah, I agree.  I think the honor of the real number 9 will go to Peleus, I really like the idea of the "phobia" themed issue, I can't wait to see how it turns out.

If TOA insists that the thing he wrote is Intermittens 9, then I am going to treat it like that.

This sounds like a great idea for the next intermittens.  Let me know if I can be of any assistance, Peleus.

Maybe you could use this Bonejangles special that I did for 23AE recently.

I believe it was Sigmatic, but it was made up for with a very very decent comic though, so it's not all bad.

Ooh, which one is that?  You can't be referring to anything in the newspaper, can you?

Best thread ever!  Glad to hear about your miraculous conversion, Nigel, I'm intrigued to see how you direct your energies now:)  Since I just learned what QFT means, the following are QFT:

because yo, preaching at people is a gas. Just ask any southern baptist. Usually, only really religious types get to do it. But fuck that! I want to get all high and mighty at random pedestrians.

I guess it's like one of those religious Jesus-came-to-me-in-a-vision moments that makes people join the priesthood. Only instead of Jesus, I got Cramulus.

Thanks Jenne, I'm glad you liked it!

After some time to reflect, there are some mistakes and things I would have done differently, but I'm generally pleased with how this one turned out.

So who's doing the next one?

That's good, particularly if it's for business purposes it is better that it is not motivated by sheer cynicism.  Conversely, I think the "kind of" is important too.  When you're talking about predicting to future, whether it's tarot or meteorology, I think a little humility is always a good thing.

I just figured the easiest way to learn is do it. It's usually how I learn things.

I agree, I think this is the only way to go.  Practice, practice, practice.

If you're interested in fortune telling, there are a lot of interesting routes besides tarot.  The I Ching is an interesting one.   Also, Cicero wrote an interesting book about classical divinatory practices.  I wonder if people still read sheep's livers or the flights of birds?

No, no, they don't want honesty, they don't want the person who can't just talk about feelings. They have to have the traditional bowl of bullshit with their grapefruit of immaturity, or they can't start their day off right.

:potd:

What a great analogy.  Reminds me of more than a few people I know.

It was Tet yesterday, Chinese new year.  Happy year of the Tiger PDSpags!

How was Tet?

Also, I'm interested about Cao Dai, could you give us some more of your impressions?
