I mean, there are people out there who suffer from genuine mental illness, being a malcontent, the word you were desperately grasping for, is not the same as being crazy.
We, of course, will never know whether he's sincere, or just exploiting another angle. On the other hand, I'm not sure it matters. People usually become whatever they fake, hence the saying.

I just got on a bike for the first time in almost 20 years.
Some thoughts:
-Riding a bike may be a skill that you never forget, but it's no less nerve-wracking and harrowing.
-Potholes.
-Stopping is hard because my feet don't touch the ground.

-If I can relax my grip for a few seconds, it's really pleasant.
