Title: Time to throw in the towel
Post by: NewSpag on April 26, 2012, 12:57:21 AM
Guyz I think its time to throw in the towel.  We've been trying to topple the Machine for a long time now.  Every time we topple it nothing happens.  Might it be a platonic solid?

If you want to, go right ahead. No one's stopping you.

Yeah it's gonna be pretty tough for us. Especially since I, and several others here, work for The Man™.

I don't want the machine to topple. I want to shove the dial to 11 and jam it into place until it explodes.

It is a platonic pop tart.

Toppling The Machine has never been a viable option.  Maybe giving it a slight nudge, but that is all we can ever really hope for.

Your statement is senseless.

It is time to think about throwing in the towel(s).  All these wrenches have done little to affect anything, as they can be relatively easy to spot and remove.

If we start throwing said towels (many, many towels), The Machine will grind their fibers into little bits, but perhaps the crushed and ripped pieces will start to pile up somewhere. Hopefully that place will be unexpected and unfrequented by Maintenance. The remains will stack up to a sufficiently large pile that one of two things happens (or both):

1. It will catch fire if in proximity to one of the Engines of the Machine and deal damage (whether this is good or bad is up to you)
2. Somebody not directly involved (tourists, take-your-daughter-to-work day etc.) will say, "Hey, is that supposed to be there?" causing a shitstorm in the Maintenance Department, and the Maintenance Oversight Department.

Neither will do any toppling, but will still be pretty funny to watch.

Insanity, if you indeed choose to throw the towel, will you be satisfied with yourself?
I don't mean happy, I don't mean proud. I mean satisfied.

Be the person you want to be. Do what you choose to do as this person.
Or die trying, thus having no regrets.

Toppling would be a waste of a perfectly good machine. It just needs to be reprogrammed to shit out free non-carcinogenic cigarettes and raw naked sex appeal...instead of d-bags and people that take their elementary-aged children to Wal-Mart at midnight on a school night. Ice cream would be nice, too...with sprinkles.

...Throwing in the towel would also be a waste of a perfectly good towel. Being as "The" towel, implies there is only one, that sounds like quite a tragedy. Imagine the chapping and chaffing. Horror...HORROR, I SAY!

No...I think both the path's you've posited kind of suck it. My advice more ________, Less _______, and for the LOVE OF ALL THAT IS DECENT AND HOLY, NEVER, NEVER ________________ (unless you really feel like it).

"Toppling" implies that the Machine has an intended top and bottom. It implies that the Machine is set in a particular way that it was "meant to be," and that applying enough force in the right direction might disrupt that. It implies that we can act as agents outside of the Machine.

None of these statements are true. The Machine simply changes. Everyone is inextricably part of it, and if enough parts jam up or exert enough force on their surroundings, the Machine can do either of two things:

1) Override those parts
2) Integrate them and keep chugging along as before, but slightly differently

You guys really seem to dislike this poptart fellow.  I am (probably) not him (after all how can I know for sure?).  But I'm curious, what did he do to get your panties in such a knot?

Nothing really. He just keeps coming back and posting a bunch of dumb shit. It's like having a rat in the kitchen you can't seem to trap.

And what's really sad is he's the only decent troll we've had since number_6.

I don't want to topple the machine. I want to steal it and drive the bastard up the wrong side of the motorway at 120mph, just to see the looks on everyones faces. Altruistic to a fault, that's me 8)

He (you) started out as a fairly hilarious troll, with a seemingly unlimited amount of proxies.

Then you got boring, posting shit like the OP.  Really, Poptard...It's like you don't care, anymore.

Let's see, there's five platonic solids.

Nope, none of them is the Machine.

You can kind of tell by them not being highly complex adaptive dynamic systems and having no more than 20 vertices and 30 edges, max.

Next stupid question!

Platonic solids are what Plato was fed on after 6 months of age.  Before then it was Platonic Breast Milk

It was a simple process of elimination, really.

The icosahedron passed its Fort-Save on the first round but I made it roll again.
