Ok, as some of you might know, I've claimed to possess an extremely good memory, and I would like to prove that I'm not just making shit up (even though I'm sure you all believe me anyway), and get more practice at remembering really long numbers so I can learn to do it fast for live shows.
So, it's pretty simple, you can type any string of random numbers (for now, up to 40 digits long) and I'll record myself recalling those numbers while blindfolded, (and I promise it will all be 100% legit, I won't have anyone whispering me the digits out of the camera and audio range, just me taking a few minutes to study a number and then recalling it straight from memory.)
Given, this probably won't be very exciting after the first one or two times you watch it, as it will just be me recalling random numbers, but I'd appreciate people joining in and helping me do this just so I can myself try and hone my abilities to a professional level.

i got a hunch that lots of repeats will be harder because you'd have to remember a) the number and b)how many times to repeat it. throwing in the occasional "oddball" i think makes it even harder. cuz then you have to remember which oddball comes up all the way through the repeats. although, maybe the oddball helps the memorizer in a way, also.

only if you want to - youtube is blocked, so i'd have take your word for it anyway. i'm more interested if you think certain "styles" of number strings are easier or harder to memorize, or does your method defeat this?
also - can you remember them for very long? i.e. could you commit the number to memory, then, say read a magazine article, and then recite the number?

umn, I remember learning the numbers for japanese a while ago, but its been kinda a long time and I (ironically) forgot.
I'll do your number in about 6 hours, I just checked how much I downloaded when uploading videos, and I'm nearly capped now so I don't want to go over and lost my internuts for a week.

Well I might in a couple of hours.
And really, I don't think it really makes a difference what numbers you use or how often they repeat, my system is such that I'll be able to remember any digit in any location of a string of 40 characters.

Depends if I want to remember the number for long. If I learn a new number, it will stay in my head all day as long as I don't try and learn another new number.
I use something called "memory rooms", and I have a special room for remembering temporary numbers, that will stick in my head even after I've read a book or a magizine or played video games, or in the case of me performing, at the end of a show, if I get the number at the start of the show.
If I for some reason need to remember the number for a good long time, I'll simply create a new memory room and put that number in there and revise it once a day for a few days in order to lock it into my mind.

Nope, where I stumble has mainly to do with how well I can recall my memory room, sometimes bits and pieces of it disappear for a moment but then they come back to me.
Actually, if you really want to know, I remember it in 2 character chunks, which is why I normally say numbers in lots of 2.
So really, if you want to get technical, instead of remembering 40 individual characters, I'm remember 20 2 digit numbers.

Actually, yes, I can, remembering random words is a lot easier to do then numbers actually, for me.

I suggest doing, say, 20 random words. or 50. or 100, if you like.
