Obama did nothing to avert the civil war.

Obama got a dog. Here are just a few of the soulcrushing articles that are getting national attention this week. Because clearly nothing else important is going on in regards to the white house.

Headline:
QuoteSunny Obama, Obamas' New Dog, Has Lots To Learn From Bo (PHOTOS)
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/20/sunny-obama-obamas-new-dog_n_3784173.html

This one actually brings up the valid point that puppy mills are bad. Headline:
QuoteThe Obamas' second first dog is a chance to talk about all dogs
http://www.latimes.com/opinion/opinion-la/la-ol-obamas-portuguese-water-dog-sunny-20130820,0,7011037.story

This is a story from the media about how presidents pets have historically distracted the media. Good job media.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/style-blog/wp/2013/08/21/whats-the-political-message-behind-obamas-new-dog-sunny/

And of course facebook and twitter have remained bastions of critical thinking and openmindedness through it all.

http://www.theatlanticwire.com/politics/2013/08/best-conspiracy-theories-about-obamas-new-dog-sunny/68543/

QuoteSunny is black because the Obamas are racist

"With the addition of Sunny, the Obamas now have two black Portuguese water dogs," The Daily Caller's Patrick Howley reported on Monday. "The Obamas do not have any white dogs." The Daily Caller was not alone in this assessment

QuoteSunny's real name is Sunni
You know, because Obama is secretly a Muslim.

QuoteSunny exists to distract America from White House scandal
Okay hang on. That one's not far off. Although they do quote crazy people and Obamacare comes up a bunch.

My personal favorite is PETA's reaction, which appears to be keeping with the organizations of goal of 'make the entire world want to hurt animals because we're so smugly self righteous.' There is a semi valid point in there about puppy mills but it gets buried. Also breeder=/=puppy mill all the time.

The headline:
QuoteObamas adopting second breeder dog is the "equivalent of kicking a hobo," PETA says

QuoteIngrid Newkirk, president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, spoke out against the Obama family's choice of pooch, saying they should have picked a rescue animal instead of Sunny, who comes from a breeder.

QuoteLike big brother Bo Obama, Sunny is also a Portuguese water dog. The breed was chosen by the Obamas because of "allergies in their family," but Newkirk doesn't see that as a valid excuse.

QuoteThe First Family did send a donation — amount unknown — to the Washington Humane Society, but that "can't buy homes or erase a bad example," according to Newkirk. She encouraged the Obamas to adopt a third dog, but this time select a rescue animal.

"Come on, Mr. President, one more time — and this time, do it right," the statement said. "Set a good example and save a homeless animal's life."

Clearly we have reached the full climax of Obama's failure as president. Not the denial of human rights. Not the drone bombings. Not the NSA spying and tearing apart the fourth ammendment. He adopted the wrong dog. Monster.

And by wasting this much time pointing out how the media wastes time, I am now officially part of the problem.

Thanks!

The cut aways to the human dialogue I'm not sure about keeping or not, it was mostly there so I could figure out how to move along the story when I got stuck.

I like the dialogue. Actually for the first dialogue I wasn't immediately sure whether it was from the humans or the aliens point of view, which I think added to the story.

check out Groklaw's post itself, just READ it

http://www.groklaw.net/article.php?story=20130818120421175

just READ it, really, this, RIGHT HERE, this fucking shit is really really really making me so. fucking. anrgy.

it's all going to SHIT.

I know many of you have been saying this for years, and I've been hearing it, but now I FEEL it. burning right there somewhere. which probably says more about me than about the world, since there's been enough atrocities before.

I said a few pages back, like punch in the gut. It's exactly like the Groklaw article says, the whole Internet, all phones, everything, fucking tapped, you can't go anywhere! you can't do anything, you can't subvert anything, because if you could, that's just proof it was something meaningless anyway. It's all gone to SHIT.

(AND IM EVEN MORE LATE FOR WORK :argh!: TODAY IS NOT A GOOD DAY)

Yet another article that keeps making me think 'allright here is where folks have to acknowledge that messed up stuff is happeneing'.  I know better by now, but it's still depressing to go out and see what effects this has on the media and all I see is OBAMA GOT A DOG OBAMA GOT A DOG HERE ARE CONSPIRACY STORIES ABOUT OBAMAS DOG OBAMA GOT A DOG some stuff happened in egypt OBAMA GOT A DOG OBAMA GOT A DOG LOOK AT OBAMA'S DOG freedom is dead OBAMA'S DOG OBAMA'S DOG OBAMA'S DOG OBAMA'S DOG LOOK AT THE FUCKING DOG TALK ABOUT THE FUCKING DOG ITS A DOG OBAMA HAS A DOG.

Also I can't help but feel like not being dragged from bed in the middle of the night by secret police means I'm not trying hard enough. Although that's irrational wrongthinking for reasons too numerous to mention.

Did you hear about Obama's dog?

Hide from the human's eyes. I cannot emphasize this enough. They can see for hundreds of yards. The spectrum of light they can process is ridiculously huge. That wall of plexi that is opaque to you? They can see through it. They can detect motion. They can differentiate shapes. They can even see in all but the most complete darkness.

Remember when you hide! If you can see their eyes, they can see you!

Research based on salvaged human remains indicates that the photon sensing organs (commonly "eyes") can detect three wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation as well as photon density. The photons are detected using two structures in the interior of the organ, one of which is used in in low-light situations and the other collects detailed information about the size, shape, and chemical composition of the object being observed. The orientation of human eyes slightly apart and facing the same direction gives humans the ability to rapidly calculate distances to the objects being observed by use of the parallax effect (a calculation which appears to be done nearly instantaneously). Humans effectively have two fields of vision: one where distance, shape, and other details are easily determined which is believed to be roughly a 90 degree arc (not accounting for movement of the head or the eyes themselves, which makes their field of vision nearly 360 degrees); the second is a specialized type of vision present only on the edges of the standard field of vision which does not process detailed information but motion and changes in light. When this secondary vision detects information that may indicate the presence of predators (or prey) humans are observed to immediately shift focus to the potential threat.

In addition to the explicable data based on observation and autopsy, humans appear to be equipped with still another method of detecting potential threats. If the human is observed from the rear, outside of both fields of vision, small keratin spines at the base of the neck will stiffen, causing the human to turn around and scan for potential threats. Our researchers are currently unable to detect the mechanism by which these keratin spines are activated, and what information we have been able to gather from the humans' own publications indicates that this may also have escaped their own ability to explain.

Now I'm afraid of humans.

Does that come with a new decoder ring? Because the one you gave me made of kelp is really starting to smell.

Just wait until you discover that TimeCube endorses American Presidential candidates.

John McCain had his support, for example.

:lulz:
That's gotta be a dubious honor.

I was a bit weirded out by the video of his visit to MIT. It was funny until you realized that the MIT students invited a schiziophrenic guy to their campus just to laugh at him. Of course then the guy says something crazy and insanely racist and I giggle again.

I can't imagine this hasn't been posted here before but a coworker just showed me Time Cube and I am mesmerized.

I have no idea what I just read but here is a take home point.

QuoteYou SnotBrains will know
hell for ignoring TimeCube.

are unfit to live on Earth.

I'm mildly unsettled by the fact that I can't tell if this is a crazy person or a joke.

Humans excrete more than any sentient species. Furthermore they do not seem to regard the activity of 'sweating' as excretion. This has made diplomacy...unpleasant.
