What if God actually does want us all to get along, and to gain wisdom, and mature into a functioning global society...and keeps inspiring teachers to help us on that path....but we look at these folks each time and say either "FUCK YOU!" OR "You make some nice points but when you die, we're going to murder all the folks that don't believe just like we do"?

I've heard goats are a great environmentally friendly alternative to lawn mowers. We use them for vacuum cleaners here at DIA HQ as well. The occasional classified document gets eaten, but that just keeps it super secret.

I just read through this entire thread, and I am quite surprised how philosophical it got at times. Hilarious as well. Of course, given the topic, there was a fair amount of lewdness, but also insightful commentary.

The downside is it makes me nostalgic for some of the folks who are no longer active on the board.

I looked at my profile and I posted pretty actively from 2003 to 2007, so I must have been around for the Hugh scandal, but I can't remember it at all. Too many lobotomies I suppose.

I'm tempted to read through my old posts more thoroughly and try to figure out why I drifted away. Apparently I was active up to 2007, then took a break until 2011, then took another break until now.

17 years later, it's nice to look back on this and remember what happened to Tao immediately after this thread.

I remember Tao. Lost touch many moons ago. What, exactly, happened to him?

He went to Germany to be with EvT.  She put up with him for about 20 minutes, and tossed him out on his ass.

Then he wrote some very sad poetry (not the tone, the quality), and vanished without a trace.

EvT has been back once, about 10 years ago, but nobody has seen Tao ever since.

Just had news about Verthaine, though.  He's doing well.

Hahaha...that cracks me up a bit. I met EVT while I was in Germany and spent a fair amount of time with her and Lord...Caramac I think...aka elfboi...aka Nils. I also lived with Tao for a bit in Pittsburgh,  and was in a band with him when we both lived in Dallas. I never quite understood him and EVT being together and am not surprised she booted him out. When he left Pittsburgh for Germany we were not on good terms. I lost track of both of them after that. Did she get a divorce from the Spanish guy she was with?

Last I heard Tao was in Canada somewhere and EVT was doing alternative fashion somewhere still in Germany. While things might have been strained with Tao, I still think fondly of EVT and the German crew. Was hoping to reconnect. I live in the UK now so it is easier to get over for a visit.

It blows my mind that people don't just continue to haunt their old online forums, indefinitely.

we joke about the chronic trolls who have been obssessed with this place for 15 years--get a life, right? and yet, here we are

 

To be honest, I kind of forgot about the forums for awhile....well, 10 years. Not sure why...life I guess. Just happened to stumble across it again while trying to find contact info for EVT and others.

It might not be as active now, but it still has a similar feel to it...the posts still crack me up.
