I looked it up on wikipedia... I'd heard it mentioned many times on "Red Dwarf", but until I read what it actually was I had no idea how much I wanted to try some.

There's some sort of pool going? I find myself wondering where you think you might possibly recognize me from... I usually stick to this handle or some variation of it, have for almost a decade.

Thanks, Regret, and I now see that you were trying to help me out when you posted that link in that other topic, sorry to be such a paranoid spaz.

Another way in which words fail... Have you ever played the telephone game? Being on the ass end of the receiving spectrum for any verbal message (or written message, having been translated or otherwise butchered over time) pretty much guarantees ruination of the original message.

Vindaloo sounds delicious.

I figured it was a microcosm in which to test my odd theories (or, more likely, some shit other people have thought of before) of social engineering. Oh well, my mistake.

I've seen a similar shit once, working at McDonalds, many years ago... I was sent to unclog the toilet in the men's restroom...

I opened the door and the wave of stench hit me, I immediately felt ill. From the doorway, I spied it, PILED UP HIGHER THAN THE SEAT, and it was almost a glowing, radioactive orange. Fearing the tentacles that might at any moment reach out from the depths of that foul basin, and gagging the whole way, I returned the sacred plunging instrument to my supervisor, who, better skilled with the wards and sigils needed to protect oneself from such a sinister evil, and less sensitive to its toxic aura, proceeded to send the beast back into it's infernal abode.

I liked it. Didn't seem meaningless to me.

There's some old saying about each answered question leading to ten more questions, but, not sure of the actual quote, or where it comes from.

According to Zen Buddhism, Doktor Howl, at least if I interpret what I read correctly (which is unlikely), there is a point at which words fail. I will now be leaving the topic of Zen, as I know jack shit about it, and am not qualified to speak on the matter any further.

Words are abstractions, they hold meaning, but they are symbols of sorts, poor substitutes for the reality of any experience, no matter how well used they may be. There are some thoughts that cannot be conveyed in words, only action, emotion, these can be described, but they can never really cross the gulf and reach the intended target with the full force of the experience itself.

That can't be good.

I'm going to ask a question I probably don't want answered... Who?

I can kind of see why it's a toilet... I feel a mindless rant trying to claw its way out, I'll try to keep it short.

Ok, the whole reason it's filled with trolls in the first place, likely, is because the questions are usually asked by, well, people who are ignorant as to how search engines work. If they wanted a good answer to their question, they'd spend a lot less time just typing it in to google or other comparable engine and seeing what pops up, using their noodle to filter everything but what appears relevant to their query, and doing a little bit of research. Instead, they go to a place like Yahoo answers and open themselves up to trolling and misinformation, asking stupid questions which they could answer for themselves if they simply didn't fail the internet. What am I? Your stupid search monkey? When you say "dance" I dance? But, no matter.

Example of a stupid question I have seen?
Q: Why does pot stay in your system for so long compared to other drugs?
A: Because it's fat soluble, douchepickle. Other drugs are water soluble.

When I don't answer right off the top of my head with something out of left field, it usually takes me seconds to find the crucial information they are seeking, at which point I shake my head with shame at what humanity has become. Perhaps after I complete (or fail, with terrible consequences) my experiment with getting them all to play nice, I'll move on to teaching them to use the tools at their disposal, rendering yahoo answers obsolete for all but the more meaningful questions, like "When I flush the toilet, does my poop go to hell?".

But it's starting to get to me... I fear I may be converted by the very thing I sought to convert. The temptation to cut loose on some of these people is almost too great, but I must remind myself that to do so would be to turn on my belief that there is yet hope for humanity, and that even those less gifted in the noodle department can still use the tools at their disposal to educate themselves a little better and be able to hold up a decent conversation, nurture vs. nature, that sort of thing... The circumstances to which one is exposed, I believe, affect quality of thinking, and it is quality, not necessarily quantity, which is more important in achieving a correct understanding... In which case, I'm the wrong person for the job, but, one has to have their goals in life... This is horrendously oversimplified, and I could go on about it for days, but I figure shorter is better.

Just my thoughts on Yahoo answers, and why it's dumb as all hell.

Oh, ok. Sorry, my sense of humor doesn't always work. Heh...

I wasn't really sure what Doktor Howl meant by that... He thinks I'm talking about PD? Na. Was talking about Yahoo Answers.

I enjoyed reading it. Thanks!

Closing it off may very well keep the mongols out... But it won't let new and interesting people in... Plus, I get the impression that ya'll enjoy stomping on them, but I could easily be wrong.

EDIT: Ah... Perhaps until they're approved by a moderator, or by vote or something, they're locked off to posting in a specific portion of the forums. The rules are simple. Survive the trolls, impress some people with your input, and you find your way out of the maze, over the wall, through the gateless barrier, whatever retarded metaphor you want to use. Fail, and you remain troll food until you either give up, or adapt... This way, retarded mongols will be kept somewhere where they cannot do much damage, could still auto-approve accounts, and people could troll noobs to their heart's content...

Though... I have no idea how difficult it would be to alter the forums in such a way, so I'm just talking out of my ass here... Might be stupid, I don't know... When you say a "great wall", I really have difficulty understanding what you mean, or how you intend to implement it. A multiple choice test of some sort, perhaps?

Like some kind of memorial for noobs slain by the sinister trolls lurking in this forum?

I thought it was good advice, myself, even gave it a thumbs up.

Only if you want to open wide the gates of Hell.
