Last night Enrico found a peanut.
It made him think of Jimmy Carter and the time Enrico had lunch with him and Margaret Trudeau. Was in 1978, and lunch was held at Russian Tea Room in New York City - do not get hopes up, place has NOTHING to do with tea-bagging as Enrico knows it. Is just for food. Is sad.
During appetizers Jimmy Carter noticed tattoo on Enrico's hand of three black circles, one large and other two smaller. He asked what these tattoos meant. Enrico was outraged for few moments, after all lunch was supposed to be about management of world garbage and this clown asks about tattoo? Then Enrico realized that tattoos can be cultural signposts . . . like tattoos on people in New Zealand . . . he relaxed and put down steak knife he had been ready to plunge into Carter's peanut loving neck.
Enrico explained that tattoos represented Salazorian cartoon Ricardo Rat, and that Enrico had been fan-club El Presidente as tiny child. He had only been El Presidente for few weeks, though, then he killed the treasurer and vice El Presidente, took over offices and became Ricardo Rat Fan Club Generalissimo. What can he say? Is in his blood.
Margaret Trudeau asked if that was first tattoo Enrico ever got, and he laughed long and loud. No, he said through chuckles, he got first tattoo at age five, then opened shirt and showed vulture with wings spread across chest. Coincidentally enough, Margaret Trudeau also received first tattoo at age of five . . . she got tattoo of some freak cartoon character named Mickey Mouse . . . Enrico never heard of him. Sounds like bullshit.
Jimmy Carter had never got tattoo, so Enrico and Margaret got him drunk and tattooed the words "Tricky Dick" on his chest.
What are your tattoos?
all over
back - smiley face grim reaper, huge dragon fly
neck - Warnnig Contents Under Pressure
arms - demon cat, angel cat, My name in Kanji
legs - Large tribal, kanji, spooky skeleton with crystal ball, spiral
chest - Ankh with a scar from an old surface peircing
9 or so all togehter
Quote from: Enrico SalazarWhat are your tattoos?
left leg, from knee to ankle: some freaky-deeky shit taht my boy did freehand. it's REALLY good, but I have no idea what it's supposed to be other than that part of it is a vagina and clitoris. yes, I have a clit on my leg. art for art's sake.
right leg, knee to ankle: a giant representation of the Mickey's Malt Liquor hornet.
left arm, shoulder to elbow: a big marrow-tribal design surrounding a biohazard symbol. colorwork is still unfinished.
right arm, most of shoulder: the island of St. Thomas with shading for topography in green and yellow, and the words "North Side" in big red Old English lettering.
All I gots at the present time is the OM symbol on my left arm, above the elbow.
Nothing, as I prefer to have as few identifying features as possible. Its bad enough having my good looks without something else for everyone to know me by....
Is true. Good point.
Enrico can't count how many times he was recognized by Kabballa tree of life on right forearm. Tattoos like that get around Mediterranean poker joints.
Also, Enrico forgot to give list of all tattoos:
1) Vulture, on chest
2) Ricardo Rat, hand
3) Ace of Spades, left shoulder
4) Tree of Life, right forearm
5) Love & Hate, across fingers
6) Eightball, back of right shoulder
7) Kali, left forearm
8) names of ex-wives, right arm above elbow
9) left & right, bottom of opposite feet
10) Island of Salazore, right thigh
11) Liberace, left thigh
12) 'Ritzibottom', right shin
13) Giant Squid, upper chest onto neck
14) Poco, back of neck
Enrico thinks that is all of them, but there could be some he forgot about.

And I'm not even a Discordian.
No?
Just liked the look?
(Are you a SubGenius, or just don't classify yourself?)
I like the look and the symbolism. I'm just too apathetic to actually pretend to believe in anything.

This is the tattoo I gave her for Christmas last year.
She had it done in brown tones right smack between her shoulder blades.

She was a big time poster, and just went cold.
Maybe she's in prison. Or dead.
or both.
From what I recall, her IRL life went horribly bad, and she wasn't really into the direction the board was heading. Maybe we should try to get her back.
If she wants to comeback, I'm sure she will. She knows where to find us.
By all means, if you want to contact her, then go ahead, but I think if she wanted to be here, she probably would be.

Also, Enrico is a fucking liar, I know he has a tattoo of Rudy Huxtable on his body somewhere . . . I saw it in a booze fog one time . . . It was covered in hair, so it was hard to tell who it was, but he claims its Rudy Huxtable.
Upper right arm, a Yin/Yang with red-Yellow roses instead of dots. Sort of a Grateful Dead thing. On the left upper arm, the ever popular Sacred Chao in plain black. I am thinking about getting Chutzpah in Yiddish on my back, between the shoulder blades, I am just lazy.

Hey, Aini, don't you have "DAVID DUKE 4EVAR" tattooed across your fivehead?
I really want a large moth tattoo on my back but I have to decide what kind of moth and then draw it first. The only tattoo I have is a turtle in the center of a medicine hoop, with a map of the earth on its back.
Silence of the Lambs style Deaths Head Moth.
Y'all will laugh or at least larf, but I have a blooming red rose on my back right shoulder and 2 multi-colored butterflies on my right second toe.

I don't have any tattoos.
Furthermore, were I to have facial tattoos... they would be more or less geometric and pleasing to the eye without meaning.
i've seen some really nice facial tattoos on women before.
of course they were girlie and dainty, usually little stars or something of the like.
they can be classy if you do it right, but i've seen some really horrible shit that pretty much wrecked the face as well.
just choose wisely Aini, you can't cover it up w/ a sock if you decide later you don't like it.

IF i'm ever going to have a tattoo, it's going to be an ouroboros wrapped around some body part, leg, arm, finger, wrist, i dunno.
but i think i'm just going to have it customly made into a ring some day when i have the moneys for it (cause i dont really want a tattoo)

Because it would be cool for it to looked carved out, rather than just a tattoo of a snake eating its tail.
Wow...that would be a neat effect.

It would be a LOT of work, but it would be worth it. The guys I go to win all sorts of awards.

By Scarification maybe?
It'd be a lot of fine work, but the depth you can get with the resulting scar would add somethign to it.
You would have to get it done differently from most scars, just so it doen't look like a design done w/ puffed out scar-tissue. (Scar for the internal detail and branding for the edges maybe?)

I'd 2nd Suu's opinion on personal wishes / relevance in ink.
I've still not come up with something I'm sure I want illustrated on myself yet.
I've also seen (at College, folks here excluded) a good bit of tatooing that was fairly copypasta, so my ideas for myself may be backlash againt that.
If anything this discussion shown me a more encouraging side to it all.
Edit: :lulz:
Rebel Bird > Rose flash.
Just sayin'. I'm glad I didn't start getting tattooed until last year. Because what I wanted when I was 17 is sooooo different than what I want now. Star Wars is a ridiculous part of my life when you live a character every other weekend or what not, and I doubt unless something really bad happens, that I'll be leaving the Legion anytime soon.
Hey now. I have rose flash and I LURV it! But I'm always of the opinion that, if you choose something you really love and want to live with, who the fuck cares where it came from, who else has it, or what it symbolizes. Your body, your tenure in that body, and therefore YOUR choice.
That being said, lovely tatt, Suu!
Protip: The worst part about getting a tattoo is not the actually tattooing process, it's what comes a week after. :x

I'm having a hankering for a tattoo. There's a place up the street that's supposed to be good, and doesn't have quite the wait list of Tiger Lily.
I totally have this tattoo in mind that's driving me crazy, I just need to do it. It's a squash vine with fiery blossoms, from which arises a female figure with moth wings... or maybe just a straight-up moth. Nope, but I know the artist who did that.
It's going to be the Skyway Bridge at dawn/sunset, the view facing INTO Tampa Bay, so the sun itself won't be in it. Just the colors. The beach line will be on the left, and two small silhouettes of F-16s will be flying overhead. I may put a pirate ship sailing under the bridge, but I haven't decided yet.

Ah, Fragment 22, yes?
Sappho doesn't EVER get enough praise...
Her lyrical work is amazing, but do to languages rapidly evolving at the time and the methods of archiving literary works, it sucks that nearly everything she had written is lost. Plus, when people bring up Sappho, it's like, you get the whole, "Oh the Lesbian feminist one?" Well yeah, she WAS Lesbian, as in, from the island of Lesbos, and so what if she did have women lovers? That was commonplace back then, and even so, no one knows for sure, as she could have been alluding to many things with her writing style.

She doesn't LOOK like a Canuck hater...
Way back, when TGRR was just a little girl, he was at Fort Drum, and was thinking of getting a tattoo of the 10th Mn patch on his left shoulder, like many people were.
Then his squadmate went, and they spelled "Mountain" wrong on the tab...they forgot the first "n", and my friend was in the "Moutain" division.
TGRR decided he didn't really need a tattoo, after all.
OFUK
I drew a tattoo for my wife of a tiny stylized elephant, and she wanted the word "LAW" under it, so I also drew up something which looked sort of like Times, just to give the artist the idea... he almost went ahead and drew my lettering which was SLOPPY... luckily I noticed just in time.

Yeah, it truly sucks. I remember being told the theory she was likely a priestess of Aphrodite, and so the poems were devoted to ideas of love, lust and beauty in all its forms. I'm not certain if this is anything more than conjecture though.

Fragment 1 IS a Hymn to Aphrodite. It wouldn't surprise me. Of course Sappho is often quoted on mentioning a daughter and husband in some of her works as well. Again...common for a woman still, especially a devotee to Aphrodite to love everything anyway. She was like the feminine version of Socrates, who was enamored with the strength of men and male form.
It certainly seems to fit as an explanation. I'm willing to go along with it.

The first one on her hip was HORRIBLE. It was a teeny tiny palm tree that the artist she went to really dicked her over on. The color was totally uneven and really light, and she had to pay $100 for it. She got a larger, solid black palm tree put over it that stretches from the bottom of her ribs to her hairline for the same price.

Re: Sappho.
I don't know whether she was gay or straight or bi or anything in between. Honestly, I don't care. I think her poetry is beautiful, and I think it's really cool that she's the first female poet to have had her work written down (at least that we have record of, to my knowledge). So that's pretty bad ass. But mostly, I love that it's all in fragments--because I only have these tiny pieces to work with, I can make what I want of them, feel how I want to feel about them, interpret them however I want. Basically, their value can become very personalized. It also just blows my mind that her writing has such an impact on people that even though all we have left are these little fragments (though some are of a good size), people still continue to read it and pass it down and find value in it, after thousands of years. That's fucking bad ass. So there's a nice reminder of how something tiny--like a little fragment of poetry, or a one-sentence memebomb, or just something you say in passing--can end up having these huge ripples.
Hokay, there was my daily dose of nerding out for you.

It's going to be the Latin quote Ad Astra Per Aspera, but I'm thinking of writing it in the Greek alphabet. So normal people will see it and think it says like, "Zeus was here" or something, but if someone can actually READ Greek, they're going to be like, "Wait...wtf?" Even better if they know Latin.
So essentially, it would look like this: AD ASTRA PER ASPERA
so... what's it mean?
<---dumb
To [The] stars through hardships.
A variant of is is Per Aspera Ad Astra. Or....Through hardships to the stars.
I know it's used in Star Trek, but that ain't why I want it.

I know...I know, it's a good tune, but I was never a huge fan of Operation Ivy. In fact, I never got so sick of looking at tattered patches of their logo as well as the Dead Kennedys and Ramones on the back of every 14 year old 'punk' back in high school.

:lulz: 'Know Thyself' is attributed to Thales more than Socrates, but it's the actual 'motto' per se of the Oracle at Delphi.
Yeah, but those guys have sucky image returns on Google.
That's because Socrates was cooler. Thales was so....succinct.
Sun Athēnai kai kheira kinei was another phrase I was thinking of as I mentioned previously. Basically it's "Goddess Athena goes with you, but act for yourself."

Yeah, but quite often, the logos and band references were the only redeemable things about those fucks.

Quote from: Enrico Salazar on December 05, 2005, 03:10:24 PM
I have no tattoos. However, if anyone can put a tattoo INSIDE my skin, I want a big "EAT A DICK" on the inside of my chest, so when I finally die, the coroner will find out what I really think of him and his fucking Rolex.

Oh work is gonna feel GREAT today.
Suu that's awesome! I love the ancient greek + vintage sewing machine. Was the saying originally greek? Or is that just another layer of clever anachronism?
It was originally Greek. But the Latin phrasing is much more common for whatever reason.
Deus ex Machina is a calque of Apo Mechanes Theos. The actual theatrical device was created by the Greek playwrights, and then you know, the Romans stole it because they could.
I went with Greek because...
A: It looks cooler
B: It makes stupid people wonder why I have fraternity letters on my back
C: I am part Greek (I am also part Roman I'm sure but...meh)
Of course my nickname for a while was Drama Queen, pretty much all through high school and college, and unfortunately not really in a positive light, so, you know, to add to the humor. So I went from the Drama Queen to the Sewing Goddess who makes theatrical and reenactment costumes...Bam.

You're not supposed to use it. Too many synthetic ingredients.
a mix of aloe vera gel and olive oil applied with a cucumber works wonders on road rash (large scrapes) might help with a tattoo???
I just use Palmer's Cocoa Butter with Vitamin E. It's what they use as lube when they're drillin' so...I was told no Lubriderm, no petroleum jelly, and absolutely no fucking antibiotic ointment. I put on A&D before I go to bed, but only for like another night.
the aloe Vera gel has nothing but cactus in it (bought at health store ) i would stick to the recommendations of the tattoo artists and people familiar with tattooing,
i scraped most of the skin off one side of my face in a mountain bike crash and used the above recipe a few times a day and had no infection and no scaring... it work's great for that..
I'll have to ask about it. I've used straight up vitamin E oil before and had no problems.
aloe will actually pull the ink out.
it kinda works the same way as an antibiotic ointment.
the cocoa butter and a&d are the best things to use for it.

that's good to know squid diddle.. the fact that it acts as a antibiotic is probably why it works well on scrapes and burns..

Oh shit, I DO have a pic of my sister's dingbat. Lol.
I have nine tattoos.
One my right forearm:
* Leaves and jungle foliage forming a frame around:
* A cave-woman drawn by Frank Cho
* A technicolor (orange and blue) snake wrapped around a branch from which hangs the Golden Apple, tempting the cave woman -- yes, I have a subversion of the Garden of Eden story on my arm
* A naked redhead with a green cloak pouring out the waters of life from a jug, symbolizing my birth sign (Aquarius).
One my right shoulder:
* A large Giger-style biomechanical image of a woman's face done entirely in gray. Everyone who sees it calls it a "goddess face." Few know which one.
One my left forearm:
* A Tibetian occult-style fanged skull penetrated by a jeweled dagger and entwined by a diamondback rattlesnake
* A screaming skull wreathed in blue flames
* A grinning skull with devil horns
On my right calf:
* a goblin (representing Mescaltio) hanging onto a out-of-control jackhammer (representing LSD).
Still sore...but it's starting to lift. :x
HERE WE GO.
At some point in the not-too-distant future, I do want to get my Grammia Virgo tattoo. One of the major obstacles besides money is location... I'm thinking about getting it on my least-favorite part of my body, because nothing could make me love stretch marks more than having a big moth on them.

I've been planning my tattoos for a while now though:
Right upper chest: Taurus constellation
Middle upper chest: Gemini constellation
Back of the neck : Aquarius constellation
Left outer leg: Pac man near the ankle munching his way to a blue ghost near the hip
The constellations seemed cool...and then you said Pac Man.

How do you misplace your own tattoo?
I have an ellipsis tattooed on my left upper arm.
I was just playing around with a sewing needle and some India ink one day. That was nearly 20 years ago, so it's blurred to just a straight line now.
A friend of mine has a few punctuation marks. She passed out at a party one night and when she woke up, someone had tattooed punctuation on her arm and foot.

Did she ever find out who did it? That is a stabbable offense.

Nope, it happened years ago and she never found out who.
She was that kind of partier, back in her day.

The 'coffee incident'?
I believe they managed to touch God. In a bad place.
Richter has a penchant for brewing double the allotted amount of espresso in concentrated POTS rather than the usual shot. Granted, espresso in theory has less caffeine than regular coffee, but make enough of the stuff and well, it's human rocket fuel.
He made a pot of coffee at work one day in which I partook two fairly large cups of and then proceeded to go on a vision quest through Downtown Crossing in Boston that afternoon preaching the word to anyone who would hear, then came back and passed out from the crash.
I'm pretty sure we've been through this before.
There was blind confirmation of this effect when Scadian Eric also had a vision quest off the stuff.
Only Nate the Great, former bicycle messenger, singer, and glorious faggot, could down the stuff with impunity.
Nate The Great would fucking ANYTHING.
That's fucking awesome. Reminds me of the time in h/s when I ordered a Baskin Robbins mocha blast, and the guy just shrugged when he found out he was out of milk, grabbed the other pre-mixed cappuccino mix, and threw a double shot of the chocolate/mocha espresso syrup into the blender.
I probably shouldn't have ordered the jamoca ice-cream in that blast.

Just saw this. They still do this shit. Were I to do something of this nature, I would not get unit patches. I don't want them instantly recognisable as military. I would go with something representing units I have deployed with (and I am about sick of the 82nd...what the fuck do I need to do to get away from this shit. I am thinking of doing something else with my life...). I am more likely to get other things that are more important to me, than the units though.
Anyway, this is one of the reasons I don't really want any words on me. Especially not something from a language I don't know. Maybe binary (but not in 0 and 1).

Whoa, those are nice! I've been meaning to get more.
My tattoos are a bit autobiographical, representing something important to me at the time. I currently only have two, the penguin holding the 1up in his lap (or buttfucking it, if you ask my brother), which is suppose to represent my computer geek and gamer nerd tendancies, and a KMK logo on my back, to represent two of my favorite de-stressers.

Both were free, done by my brother. In fact, the KMK logo was the first tattoo he ever gave anyone, and the Penguin the second. I was his guinea pig.
I'm going to get something discordian next, thought precisely what, I haven't decided.
I'm not sure about putting a Discordian tattoo on my body. It's like...letting doom in through the front door.

Great, now that I've read that I need to seriously work at convincing myself not to tattoo "Surprise Me, Eris" on my ass.
I have a Discordian tattoo.
3 weeks after getting it my woman left me and I met a my sweet red-headed Pirate Hooker 7 months later. Coincidence. No. Still.
The only spags who are gonna see it are those I meet in meatspace.

The Hitler Kitty made me LOL at work.
...So, naturally, I had to show the whole crew.
Of course. My Li'l Kitler seems to be adored by millions.
What's people's reaction on it in Norway, and how about the rest of Europe?
I have to admit, in my earlier twenties I found a party theme based upon a very similar nazi subversion of a "cute icon" absolutely hilarious, though :)
I've had only one negative reaction to it. A swede, she said it was 'wrong'.
It's a hit among anti-fascist folks.
Wow, nice tatts! I especially love the black mage!
Yeah, nice linework.

Thankees. That's my symbol. My girl has one tattooed on her arm as well, although hers is a bit more feminine.
Mine aren't done. I've been too busy to finish them.
So here I am with just outlines. Oh well.
I don't think my half sleeve is getting finished anytime soon, either. Now my my sister's old guy is actually working around the corner from where I live, I'm going to pop in there and talk to him.
The guy who did all of my work prior to Oarstroker went off the ego-deep end, and I can't afford him.

I believe this proves the formula
[(slm)/pj+fx]+(m-yvm)=zr
Short Lived Meme divided by Poor Judgment plus X Foresight, plus Money-Y dollars spent on vodka=z units of time until regret is total.
X, of course, is set to 0. Y is probably a significantly higher number. Z is probably a very low number.

Some people can't handle their internets.
I actually really like the image. It's ghastly, but what an icon of the times.
It's a perfect symbol of the madness which lurks deep beneath the surface of consumer culture.
It kind of reminds me of Robocop - in the part of the movie where Robocop realizes he can't violate his programming, and it's driving him crazy. In a moment of quiet reflection, he takes a screwdriver to his head and removes his helmet. The robot faces his own humanity and it seems foreign to him. It's a really eerie, bewildering scene.
