Unfortunately I know of many who would believe him regardless. The sort of people who will refuse to believe the evidence no matter what -"there must be something wrong with it" and the logical fallacies of "purity" etc etc...

Wouldn't it be *interesting* to see where all the money actually ended up, and try to do a claw-back? Imagine millions of homeowners getting a check for overpayment on their interest... the system would collapse even regardless of the new Basel rules. If not colapse then at least the banks would be stung even more, into a sodding whimper.

A Miami police officer fatally shot a naked man chewing the face of another man Saturday afternoon on a downtown causeway off-ramp, officials said.

The Miami Herald reported that the naked man chewed off half the face of his victim, who is struggling for his life.

The violence started at 2 p.m. on the MacArthur Causeway off-ramp, just south of the Herald's offices, the newspaper said.

Witnesses said that a woman saw two men fighting and flagged down a police officer, who came upon the naked man mauling the other man, the Herald reported.

The officer, who was not identified, ordered the naked man to back away, but when the man continued the assault, the officer shot him, the Herald said. Witnesses told the Herald the wounded attacker continued to eat his victim, so the officer continued firing.

Is there no principle of hot pursuit across the land border then?  I thought if you were right behind someone, you could cross into North Korea and the arrest would still be valid.  Of course, after the arrest things might get messy after that, but the essential principle is sound.

Not necessarily. I share a border with Canada, its only a few minutes away. 2 great lakes and a river to be exact. Generally the respective services monitor each others radios and co-operate on their respective sides of the border. Basically doing favors for each other back and forth continually.

I smell all *kinds* of hypocrisy opportunity under the surface of this situation... ever notice how "competition" and "free market" is great, as long as its happening to someone else? (actually TV and telco is anything but a free market at least in the US)

I remember when the cable execs said that a subscription would mean fewer ads (this was back in the 1980's when they first incorporated and chartered their monopoly rights of way.)
