Quote from: Abbot Mythos on November 11, 2024, 04:45:24 PM8. 'Mericans vote for people they perceive to be strong leaders. They identify with them, want to be entertained by them, and want to be certain their potential leaders can defeat their common enemies.

So, to be perceived as a strong leader, a successful politician needs good, common enemies. And, if a politician doesn't actually have any good, common enemies, then good common enemies can be created.

For instance, do you want to elect people who can actually accomplish something against climate change? Then, make climate change the common enemy. And, I don't mean just talking about it. I mean showing the effects of climate change in its full, graphic, video glory, with "macho man looking" spokespeople as the narrators.

I started to post about this guy on another thread. It then occurred to me that "Mr. Empathy" here is a great example of the kind of person The Republicult™ absolutely loves to elect:

"Sen. Tuberville Says Californians 'Don't Deserve Anything' After Wildfires – Until They Enact Different Policies"

As per this article:

"Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) became the latest Republican lawmaker to say disaster aid to California should be conditional.

The Los Angeles area has been devastated by wildfires over the past two weeks. At least 24 people have died and thousands of homes have been destroyed or damaged. Republicans have responded by blaming California's leaders, and some have claimed that the fires have not yet been quelled because the state has hired too many firefighters who are not White men. Some GOP lawmakers – including Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) have even suggested California will not receive any aid until the state does what Republicans want.

Appearing on Newsmax on Monday, Tuberville lent his voice to the choir.

"Senator, why should other states be bailing out California for choosing the wrong people to run their state?" host Chris Salcedo asked.

"We shouldn't be," Tuberville replied. "They got 40 million people in that state and they vote in these imbeciles in office, and they continue to do it. And it's just a very small part of them in that state that's doing it. If you go to California, you run into a lot of Republicans, a lot of good people. And I hate it for them. But they are just overwhelmed by these inner city woke policies with the people that vote for them.""

Now, from his behavior in the U. S. Senate, I have no reason to believe this guy knows jack shit about our constitution, how to draft legislation, the law in general, how our government actually works, the purpose and workings of our military, foreign policy, etc. Yet, there he sits, an elected 'Merican Senator.

But, as per what I previously wrote, this self-righteous POS does check all of the required boxes to get elected, as follows:

1. Perceived to be a strong leader - Check - Winning former college football coach.

2. Entertaining - Check - Winning former college football coach. (Other than sex and porn, what's more entertaining than sports?)

3. Perceived to be able to defeat 'Merica's common enemies - Check - Winning former college football coach. (For many hardcore 'Merican sports fans, that other team is a real and present danger.)

4. Has enemies in common with many 'Merican voters - Check - The common enemies list in this article alone contains non-white firefighters, the wrong people to run their state (Meaning not belonging to The Republicult™), woke policies, state officials not building more dams, and state officials "not raking their forests" as per TTSS's frequent accusation. So, as he already has a long list of perceived common enemies, Tuberville doesn't even need to create any new ones to fight.

This is one of the reasons, possibly the main reason, why the USCEO has invested so much of his money in TTSS:

"Moon over Mars? Congress is determined to kill Elon Musk's space dream."

"The Trump ally wants the U.S. to forgo the lunar surface for the red planet. He faces one problem: Congress."

As per this article:

"Trump confidant Elon Musk wants NASA to drop its ambitious plans to return to the moon and instead head straight to Mars. Congress is ready to put up a fight.

Republican and Democratic lawmakers, who control NASA's purse strings, want Americans to return to the lunar surface in 2027 — and they're not willing to abandon that mission despite Musk's obsession with skipping the moon for Mars."

Here's the link:   Moon or Mars? The USCEO Wants Mars

So, we may soon see how well the USCEO's investment in TTSS has paid off so far.

I think I know the difference between a "reflex" and a "conditioned response." But, when I see articles like this, I begin to question my knowledge:

"Republicans balk at child fatality report recommending no guns in households with children"

"The GOP lawmakers claim the state is 'stripping' 2nd Amendment rights by saying fewer kids would die if they had less access to firearms"

As per this article:

"Two Republican state representatives have accused the Arizona Department of Health Services of coming after the Second Amendment rights of parents after the agency concluded in its annual Child Fatality Review Team report that there would be fewer children killed by guns in Arizona if there were fewer firearms in homes.

"We are appalled that the (Child Fatality Review Team) speaking on behalf of the Arizona Department of Health Services, is actually advocating for stripping Arizonans of their Second Amendment rights in their own homes," Reps. Quang Nguyen and Selina Bliss wrote in a letter to Jennie Cunico, head of Arizona DHS, on Monday.

But the report, released in November, doesn't actually advocate for that."

Here's the link to the article:      Republicult™ Elected Officials Favor Having Guns in Households with Children

Now, I grew up in a "Gun Culture." I was somewhere around twelve years old when my father taught me how to handle a shotgun (I might have been even a bit younger.). And, as I grew up near the middle of nowhere, I was taught in our backyard. (Our backyard was very large. Shotgun pellets wouldn't carry anywhere near the distance to the next houses.) After that, I was hunting deer by myself, with a rifle, years before I could legally drive. (Legal driving age in my state is and was 16 years old.) And, I was allowed to buy my first pistol, a 22LR semi-automatic, around the same time I obtained my driving learner's permit. So, I think I know a little bit about guns and "gun culture."

Still, the above kind of "thinking" from adults old enough to hold elected office is foreign to me. Now, I still don't believe their response is a "reflex." So, I can't help wondering, who the hell taught these particular idiots to behave like this? And, why were they taught to behave like this?

Has this new study proven that Brigadier General Jack D. Ripper was right?

Divisive study finds link between fluoride and childhood IQ loss

As per this article:

"Published in the prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Pediatrics, it has sparked pushback from some scientists who criticize the study's methods, defend the mineral's proven dental benefits, and warn the findings may not directly apply to typical US water fluoridation levels."

But, are any of those pushy scientists 'Merican? And, even if one or two of them are, why should real 'Mericans trust any pushy, overeducated scientist over United States Secretary of Health and Human Services nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr.? And, don't ever forget, General Ripper sure sounded like he knew what he was talking about all those years ago. See for yourself:

The Republicult™ lost one of their zealots today:

'Pizzagate' Gunman Fatally Shot by Police During Traffic Stop in North Carolina

My sympathy is for the police officers who had to deal with that menace to society. I hope they're not traumatized by this incident.

"There was music in the cafés at night
And revolution in the air"

That partial lyric immediately came to mind when I first read this article's caption:

'We Risk Revolution!' Scott Galloway Goes on Epic Tirade Over CEO Murder and 'Out of Control' Wealth Inequality

As per this article:

""We are in the midst of a series of small revolutions to correct income inequality. And the reason we put an insurrectionist and a rapist in office is because, for the first time in our nation's history, a 30-year-old man or woman isn't doing as well as his or his or her parents were at third. Why? Because the majority of households are having the oxygen sucked out of the room such that a small number of individuals and a small number of companies can be worth more than nation-states," he said.

"Income inequality is out of control. Our tax policy has gone full oligarch.""

After reading this article, I came to the conclusion that if "the reason we put an insurrectionist and a rapist in office is because, for the first time in our nation's history, a 30-year-old man or woman isn't doing as well as his or his or her parents were at third [sic]. (emphasis mine)", then we are really not very good at reasoning. Then, after coming to that conclusion, I began to wonder what, exactly, is at risk for we, with revolution in the air. And, that's because, given what I perceive to be we's fundamental reasoning problem, if there really is anything at risk, I'm not seeing it.

Quote from: Brother Mythos on November 09, 2024, 10:16:07 PM7. Facts and truth are mostly meaningless in modern 'Merican politics. The majority of 'Merican voters cast their ballots for candidates they both identify with, and find entertaining.

The majority of 'Merican voters are really very much like professional wrestling fans. The fans know the wrestling is scripted, but they don't care. The fans pay their money to watch because they identify with the "good guy" wrestlers who entertain them the most. Republican Party leaders know this to be true, and that's why Hulk Hogan was invited to perform on the last night of the Republican National Convention.

I never took an interest in Meta - Facebook/Meta Platforms, Inc. But, from what I've read in the media today, facts and truth have also become mostly meaningless for that particular social media corporation, as per its Chairman and CEO.

I have no doubt that, if he were alive today, the last Reichminister of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda, who was also the last Reich Plenipotentiary for Total War, would approve.

Quote from: Brother Mythos on January 06, 2024, 01:05:33 AMJanuary 6, 2021 - A failed coup d'état was attempted by TFG

I don't know how history will eventually name this day. I'm in favor of calling it "Failed Coup d'état Day," because I believe TFG should always, and only be remembered for his many crimes and failures.

"Insurrection Day" is my second choice.

If this forum were more active, I would add some more possible choices, and then create a poll. But, ... <shrug>.

So, here we are four years later. But, as a reward for his failed coup d'état, 'Merica's trailer trash, with substantial support from the MSM, Republicult™ media outlets, and numerous oligarchs, has given TTSS yet another chance to destroy our republic. The Resistance 2.0 has it's work cut out for it.

As a family member is in a rehabilitation hospital this week, I had the opportunity to get a close look at one of these units for the first time. The model the facility is currently using is this one, an EskoNR.

When I first saw it leaning against the wall, I didn't recognize what it was, as, from a distance, it kind of resembled that harness Hannibal Lecter had to wear to stop him from eating his guards faces, when he was allowed out of his cell for exercise. So, I first thought the unit was simply a special, heavy-duty version of the support harnesses utilized for taking the weight off of a rehabilitation patient by suspending them from the facility's overhead walking track system. But, the physical therapist laughed, and told me it was actually their robot. (And, they have more than just the one I examined.)

So, after walking over and taking a much closer look, I remarked to the physical therapist that it looked to me like a hundred thousand dollars worth of hardware leaning against that wall. She laughed again, and told me that it cost more than that, but didn't elaborate. And, unfortunately, after doing some later searching on the internet, I couldn't zero in on a more accurate, true cost.

Still, the most interesting thing I learned yesterday is that the hospital is currently testing and evaluating even more sophisticated robotic exoskeletons for offsite use. Needless to say, I was impressed.

Republicult™ antics like this don't surprise me anymore:

"GOP senator calls for repealing new law designed to prevent money laundering and terrorism"

As per this article:

"Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) took to X on Friday to try to drum up public support for his plan to repeal a recently enacted law intended to crack down on money laundering and the finance of terrorism.

"I've got a bill — the Saving Privacy Act — that would repeal the Corporate Transparency Act," wrote Lee, quoting a post from several months ago by Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) railing against the law. "Do you agree that the CTA is unduly intrusive and needs to be repealed?"

Lee's comment generated praise from armies of Trump supporters and right-leaning small business owners; however, it also drew criticism from some experts.

"Why do @BasedMikeLee and @TTuberville want to protect money launderers?" questioned national security reporter Marcy "emptywheel" Wheeler."

Here's the link:    Republicult™ Senators Believe Money Laundering and Financial Terrorism Are Acceptable

Still, these kind of bills from The Republicult's ™ elected officials should never be accepted as being "normal."
